Change is indeed knocking.... at our doors....
[our underscoring]

According to three studies released in the United States on Tuesday, experts believe the familiar sunspot cycle may be shutting down and heading toward a pattern of inactivity unseen since the 17th century.

"This is highly unusual and unexpected," said Frank Hill, associate director of the NSO's Solar Synoptic Network, as the findings of the three studies were presented at the annual meeting of the American Astronomical Society's Solar Physics Division in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

"But the fact that three completely different views of the Sun point in the same direction is a powerful indicator that the sunspot cycle may be going into hibernation."

Solar activity tends to rise and fall every 11 years or so. The solar maximum and solar minimum each mark about half the interval of the magnetic pole reversal on the Sun, which happens every 22 years.

Hill said the current cycle, number 24, "may be the last normal one for some time and the next one, cycle 25, may not happen for some time.

"This is important because the solar cycle causes space weather which affects modern technology and may contribute to climate change," he told reporters.

Experts are now probing whether this period of inactivity could be a second Maunder Minimum, which was a 70-year period when hardly any sunspots were observed between 1645-1715, a period known as the "Little Ice Age." (2)

Did you hear that... the story about an American-Syrian lesbian, which "gripped the world" via all those new social-networking disinformation tools, was indeed a hoax? (1)

Six days after a post on the blog A Gay Girl in Damascus triggered panic among its readers by suggesting that the blog's author, who claimed to be a Syrian-American lesbian caught up in the protest movement, had been detained in the Syrian capital, a new entry appeared on Sunday that described the entire online diary as a work of fiction by an American man.

He got the idea to start a blog in the guise of his character, he said, when a Web site called Lez Get Real published two long comments about Syria that he had submitted in Amina's name in February. That Web site published a long apology on Friday, explaining that its editors had helped to start the Gay Girl in Damascus blog. In the comment thread beneath that apology, one of the editors of the site explained that the blogger's 135 contributions to Lez Get Real in recent months had all seemed to come from computers located in Scotland, not Syria. Mr. MacMaster moved to Scotland from the U.S. last year to study history.

The M+G+R Foundation comments: We cannot emphasize strongly enough the need to be very watchful as to what one believes - especially regarding matters that will influence your faith and world view, consciously or unconsciously.

Two days ago, there was a claim that McDonald's was surcharging African Americans (2) who came in to any of their stores for security reasons.

Do not forget that a major daily paper in Portugal (a small media outlet by world standards) even fooled NASA into changing flight schedules. (3) Our readers should consider this a training period on how to better interact with the Holy Spirit of God. Otherwise, they will fall for the Last Snare and accept the False Christ as the real Saviour.

It looks like.... we have come across an Opus Dei version of a female religious group.  (1)
[our underscoring]

María José Berzosa was 18 years old when she decided to leave her studies in medicine to enter a cloistered life with the Clarissa nuns at a convent in Lerma, Burgos, an order which is devoted to prayer, penance and contemplation and is seen as one of the most austere orders of the Roman Catholic Church. She was the first novice to enter the convent for 23 years.

She took the name of Sor Verónica and later became novice mistress and, by the time Sor Verónica became mother superior of the St Clare convent, while other Clarissa convents in Spain had not taken in any new novices for many years, the community had grown to such an extent that it had taken over the San Pedro Regalado Franciscan monastery in La Aguilera and had more than 180 nuns.

This vocational boom has been described as 'the miracle of Lerma'. Two other Clarissa convents are meanwhile now empty of nuns and are to be sold to the state to be converted into Paradors.

On February 12, 2011, at the age of 44, Sor Verónica became the leader of a new congregation, when the Clarissa nuns of Lerma became members of the order which was founded by Sor Verónica - the religious institute 'Jesu Communio'.

The institute was approved by Benedict XVI in December 2010, and the Vatican's representative in Spain, the Papal Nuncio, Renzo Fratini, was at the Cathedral in Burgos on Saturday afternoon to witness the birth of the new religious institute when the 181 former Clarissa nuns reaffirmed their vows.

Many of them gave up their university studies to enter the cloistered life and, with the exception of Sor Verónica, none is over the age of 40. Generally brought up in cities and from middle class families, they are seen as followers of the new evangelisation called for by Pope John Paul II. Público reports that many belong to neo-conservative groups such as the Neocatechumenal Way, Communion and Liberation, and Opus Dei.

The youth of the new order is reflected in the denim fabric which has been chosen for their habit.

The ceremony was presided by the Archbishop of Burgos, Francisco Gil Hellín, with the Archbishop of Pamplona, Francisco Pérez, and the Bishop of Ciudad Rodrigo, Raúl Berzosa, who is the brother of Sor Verónica. The President of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, Antonio María Rouco Varela, was also there to witness the event.

The M+G+R Foundation comments: After reviewing several articles from her native country (in Spanish), we have no doubt that indeed she has "mothered" the Opus Dei version of female religious group - pious arrogance included.

Her brother, a very young and intellectual Spanish Bishop, is very Opus Dei friendly, if not a full-fledged member himself.´

The above information is shared with our readers as a matter of interest and nothing else. The "wheels are already turning", their function is well defined, and those who read our pages should have been warned years ago about them.

Is it hard to believe that... a TV station in Spain, finacially associated to the Spanish Catholic Church, which "....broadcasts the Pope's blessings live from St. Peter’s Square,  also has space for Tarot (1) (card) readers and other fortune tellers"? (2)

In Madrid part of the time on the frequency becomes 'Astrocanal', which has more esoteric content.

The owner of Canal Català, Nicola Pedrazzoli, told El País that he does not consider it strange that a channel which defends 'traditional values' and has a 'marked Catholic identity', should produce spaces dedicated to Tarot and fortune tellers.

The M+G+R Foundation comments: No, it is not hard to believe - if one sees the type of advertisements the Catholic Right news print media carries - sometimes on the front page.

We have considered reproducing them and publishing them for your review, but we find some of them so offensive that we would not even do that.

When reviewing the June 13th FYI&R post (1) about the Archdiocese of Boston, I checked the links, one of which was this document: "Cardinal Law Faces Calls to Resign". (2)

I have a question about the headline which reads:

This is what we announced on March 19, 2002......and of course it did.

I thought that what has already happened is that Rome became the seat of the Anti Christ with the "election" of Ratzinger ... and that the manifestation of the False Christ is still in the future.
Was I wrong ... or is the False Christ already "seated" somewhere in Rome?

We praise God and Thank you! for your alertness.  We made an error when typing in the exact quote.

As may be seen in the document, we were quoting Melanie Calvat.(3)

"The seasons will be altered, the earth will produce nothing but bad fruit, the stars will lose their regular motion, the moon will only reflect a faint reddish glow. Water and fire will give the earth's globe convulsions and terrible earthquakes which will swallow up mountains, cities, etc..

"Rome will lose the faith and become the seat of the Antichrist.

"The demons of the air together with the Antichrist will perform great wonders on earth and in the atmosphere, and men will become more and more perverted. God will take care of his faithful servants and men of good will. The Gospel will be preached everywhere, and all peoples of all nations will get to know the truth.

Obviously it is our typographical error, since we have had the differentiation of the AntiChrist and False Christ clear for quite some time, and she is speaking of the real AntiChrist. In the secret of LaSalette, the False Christ makes his appearance later in the message....

"Now is the time, the abyss is opening. Here is the king of kings of darkness, here is the Beast with his subjects, calling himself the Savior of the world. He will rise proudly into the air to go to Heaven. He will be smothered by the breath of the Archangel Saint Michael. He will fall, and the earth, which will have been in a continual series of evolutions for three days, will open up its fiery bowels; and he will have plunged for eternity with all his followers into the everlasting chasms of hell. And then water and fire will purge the earth and consume all the works of men's pride and all will be renewed. God will be served and glorified."

As we have said elsewhere, it is in the Secret of La Salette where we found the confirmation of what we knew otherwise regarding the two distinct individuals: The AntiChrist (4) and The False Christ (5).

WASHINGTON -- Scientists working with NASA's Dawn spacecraft have created a new video showing the giant asteroid Vesta as the spacecraft approaches this unexplored world in the main asteroid belt.

The video loops 20 images obtained for navigation purposes on June 1. The images show a dark feature near Vesta's equator moving from left to right across the field of view as Vesta rotates. Images also show Vesta's jagged, irregular shape, hinting at the enormous crater known to exist at Vesta's south pole.

Did you know that... Ayn Rand, novelist and conservative political thinker, has an impassioned following among some of today’s Republicans? (1)

They embrace her defense of laissez-faire capitalism and individualism. In many respects, she is the godmother of all libertarians.

Our readers may ask: Who cares? What makes this worthy of mention? Read on....

What some put aside, however, is the inconvenient fact that she was also an outspoken atheist.

A group of left-leaning Christians have decided to make an issue of this disconnect, putting some leading Republicans on the spot about the woman they think of as an intellectual hero.

A new political ad, created by the faith-based advocacy group American Values Network (AVN) and provocatively titled “Ayn Rand & GOP vs. Jesus,” attempts to drive a wedge into the Republican coalition by drawing attention to Rand’s anti-religious rhetoric. The ad is directed primarily at Rep. Paul Ryan, the Wisconsin Republican whose budget plan was championed by Republicans and decried as overly austere by Democrats.

And while observers say that efforts to use the admiration that Ryan and others have expressed for Rand to sow discontent in the party’s conservative Christian base will gain little traction, there are some signs that Democratic groups like AVN are not the only religious Christians focusing on Rand.

Martin E. Marty, a prominent professor of the history of modern Christianity at the University of Chicago Divinity School, has also written recently on Rand and the acceptance of her ideas by some Christian conservatives.

“I don’t know anybody, including the well-known circle of atheists, that has been more overt, open and blunt in their denunciation of religion and also Christianity,” Marty told the Forward. “That’s just a puzzle to me that it’s just so overt, and yet they can sort of slice it out and say you can be selfish all you want, but it has nothing to do with your faith.”

The M+G+R Foundation comments: Coherence? What coherence? The proverbial name of the game is to get elected even if Mom must be placed on the auctioneer's block.... maybe even the kids!

Have you heard that.... the Spanish police apprehended three men suspected of computer hacking in connection with recent cyber-attacks on Sony's PlayStation Network as well as corporate and government Web sites around the world? (1)
[our highlighting]

The National Police identified the three as the local leadership of the shadowy international network of computer hackers known as Anonymous.

Anonymous is made up of people from various countries organized into cells that share common goals, the police said, with activists operating anonymously but in a coordinated fashion.

One of the three "hacktivists", a 31-year-old Spaniard ... had a computer server in his apartment in the northern port city of Gijón, from which the group attacked the Web sites of the Sony PlayStation online gaming store.

The same computer was also employed in coordinated cyber-attacks against two Spanish banks, BBVA and Bankia, the Italian energy company Enel, and government sites in Spain, Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Iran, Chile, Colombia and New Zealand, the police said.

Are you aware that.... the Boston Archdiocese is seeking to canonize Spanish-born priest and Opus Dei Leader? (1a) (1b)
[our underscoring]

The Archdiocese of Boston has just announced that it has begun the process to have Father Joseph Muzquiz canonized.  Father Muzquiz was born in Spain in 1912, and served for a time in the Nationalist (Franco) army toward the end of the Spanish Civil War. He was ordained in 1944, and had been part of Opus Dei starting in 1941.

The process is called “opening the cause for canonization” and is the formal opening of an inquiry as to whether Father Muzqiz is worthy of canonization.  Muzquiz was critical in bringing Opus Dei to the US from Spain, and worked in Boston for many years.

He was also critical in establishing Opus Dei centers in Canada, Japan and Venezuela.  He was also instrumental in getting Opus Dei founder Father Josemaria Escriva canonized. Father Muzquiz passed away in Boston in 1983.

The M+G+R Foundation comments: Oh, yes... the Boston Archdiocese.... the proverbial "gift that keeps on giving".... (2)

Did you know that... a new top level extension .xxx ("dot triple-X") was launched on April 2011?

.xxx (known as "dot triple-X") is a sponsored top-level domain (sTLD) intended as a voluntary option for pornographic sites on the Internet. The ICANN Board voted to approve the sTLD on March 18, 2011. It went into operation on April 15, 2011. (1)

If you wonder what kind of money moved in the "smut business", take a look at the following quote from Financial News, 20th October 2010 :
[our underscoring]

The storied domain name is set to be sold for $13m, The Register has learned. ..... The price then was variously reported as being between $12m and $14m, making it one of the most expensive domains of all time. ..... is a domain with history. Originally registered by entrepreneur Gary Kremen in 1994, it was soon hijacked by convicted conman Stephen Cohen. The theft was challenged in court, but it took Kremen five years to recover the domain, during which time Cohen was reportedly making up to $500,000 a month from advertising on the site. (2)

The M+G+R Foundation comments:
There is far more to the obsession with smut than may meet the casual eye. A well developed and healthy sexuality is the greatest deterrent to degenerate sexual tastes and obsessions. A thwarted or distorted sexuality is the greatest ally to satan, thus, to the smut business. In spite of that, one school of psychiatrists recommends use of pornography to improve marital (and non-marital) sexual relations.

Just more "fruit" from the tree of the completely failed Evangelization. But it is never too late....

If anyone who may read this page suffers from the onslaught caused by the demons of  thwarted or distorted sexuality, do not forget: All is possible for, or with, God. He can, and will, through the intercessions of the Immaculate One, restore (or provide, even if it is for the first time),  a healthy sexuality in accordance with your current state of life.

I would like to continue receiving the Divine Encouragement mailings. I find them very reassuring in these confused times.

Personally, (A)  I am finding it harder and harder to fit in to the world in its current state and do not accept that this is how things should be.

I am becoming more and more isolated and cut off from the people and the environment around me as it becomes more and more alien to me (and me to them/it).

I know love is the only way, but it is becoming increasingly difficult with those I love who do not wish to hear or see, and continue down the road of consumption and denial.  (B)

I thank you for being a shining light in these times.

You kind words of encouragement replenish our "fuel tanks".

Thank you for sharing with us this "window to your soul".

It should not come as a surprise to you that the words you wrote (from Point (A) to Point (B) above) could have also been written by miguel de Portugal.

The more one (truly) becomes of God the less one is of the world. At this point in my journey as m de P, the world - as is - holds absolutely nothing that could possibly be of interest to me with the exception of the souls who are expecting their call to awake to Him; the only reason m de P exists.

Regarding "it is becoming increasingly difficult with those I love who do not wish to hear or see, and continue down the road of consumption and denial" - we could write the proverbial book on that; therefore, we fully understand how you feel.

No, it is not easy, but all we can do for them is pray on their behalf.  In this type of situation, prayer on their behalf is the ultimate manifestation of Love.

Love is our burning desire that a soul sees the Light and makes the right move as the Prodigal son did (1). Thus the "love thy enemy, pray for thy persecutor" [Matt. 5:44], exhortations from Jesus. Love does not mean that we want to spend time with someone who is completely out of tune with our God-enhanced Reality. Love is our desire for their spiritual betterment, and then act upon it through prayer and example.

For a concrete example of that: As of late we have been offering many prayers for Mexicans; no, not the victims of the drug wars - although they are included in other global prayers we offer for those who die sudden and violent deaths - we pray for the criminals, the murderers and the drug lords since only God can change them. No government, no security forces, no threats can or ever will.

So, you see - you are on the right track, moving on the right direction, at a beautiful and encouraging rate and getting very close where He wants you to be.

Thank you for the opportunity to address this critical issue for the benefit of many.

Did you hear that... in latest "hack attack", hackers stole Citibank card data? (1)
[our underscoring]

About 200,000 Citibank credit card customers in North America have had their names, account numbers and email addresses stolen by hackers who broke into Citi's online account site.

Citigroup Inc. said it discovered that account information for about 1 percent of its credit card customers had been viewed by hackers. Citi has more than 21 million credit card customers in North America, according to its 2010 annual report. The New York-based bank, which discovered the problem during routine monitoring, didn't say exactly how many accounts were breached. Citi said it was contacting those customers.

The bank said hackers weren't able to gain access to social security numbers, birth dates, card expiration dates or card security codes. That kind of information often leads to identity theft, where cyber criminals empty out bank accounts and apply for multiple credit cards.

The M+G+R Foundation comments:  It would be interesting to see how many Citibank customers - or anyone, for that matter - believes the attack is actually limited in scope and customer exposure, no matter what Citibank claims.

As we have said before, it is just a matter of time when hackers "hit pay dirt" when they zero in PayPal.

According to the press in Spain... the cost of the upcoming youth gathering with Ratzinger in Madrid next August will be over 70 million US dollars.

This cost does not include the travel cost to Spain of over 300,000 foreign youths, nor their lodging/sustenance while in Spain. It only includes the cost associated with his trip and that of his entourage, plus all arrangements for the various associated activities in Madrid.

The Spanish taxpayers have been advised that neither the State nor Madrid will be paying for any of this. The funding will come as follows: 70 % will be paid by the participants and 30 % will be paid by businesses friendly to this kind of operation.

The M+G+R Foundation comments:

Number of hungry people in the world

No one really knows how many people are malnourished. The statistic most frequently cited is that of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, which measures 'undernutrition'. The most recent estimate, (1) released in  October 2010 by FAO,  says that 925 million people are undernourished. As the figure below shows, the number of hungry people has increased since 1995-97, though the number is down from last year. The increase has been due to three factors: 1) neglect of agriculture relevant to very poor people by governments and international agencies; 2) the current worldwide economic crisis, and 3) the significant increase of food prices in the last several years, which has been devastating to those with only a few dollars a day to spend. 925 million people is 13.6 percent of the estimated world population of 6.8 billion. Nearly all of the undernourished are in developing countries.

From miguel de Portugal

As announced on June 8th, today we will make an announcement about the Medjugorje situation.

God has revealed to me additional and more disturbing information about what we will henceforth call, the Medjugorje Plan.  It is precisely for the same reason that Lucía did not want the Pope to reveal the Third Part of the Secret before 1960, that we will not make public this information at this time - even though we have shared it, on a "for the record purposes" basis, with no more than five cooperators.

When we feel that our readership at large will be able to believe it - as Thomas believed when faced with a pierced but Resurrected Jesus - we will then disclose it.

Posted on June 8th, 2011

From miguel de Portugal

As Ratzinger concludes his visit to Croatia, which shares a border with Bosnia-Herzegovina and is a scant few miles from Medjugorje, we thought it appropriate to talk again about Medjugorje.

Back in January 10, 2010, when expressing our disapproval about the Viennese Cardinal Schönborn's visit to Medjugorje (1) we wrote:

. We remind our readers about our position about Medjugorje:

It was from God at the beginning, but when it was turned into just another business to be exploited using the Holy Names of Mary and Jesus, it was no more.  That is why we say that we agree with the local Bishops at the beginning - when it was accepted as being from God - and also afterwards - when it was denied as a farce.

The man who became miguel de Portugal visited Medjugorje in the second half of the eighties, and it was not until he broke away from the tourist scene which pervaded the whole area that he reestablished contact with the supernatural which could be felt in that once holy village.

But before "we get misty eyed", let us have a reality check about that "stream of graces" which allegedly flows from Medjugorje.

What was one of the first teachings that Mary imparted at the very beginning? On July 21, 1982, She is reported to have said (and repeated frequently):

"Through fasting and prayer, one can stop wars, one can suspend the laws of nature." (2)

It was in 1987 - six years after the first Marian manifestation - when the winds of war started to blow in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (3) - where Medjugorje was located. Essentially the Milosevic era started, and the rest is history... a bloody war history still being worked out in the World Tribunal at The Hague.

Then we must pose the following: Either Mary lied or the millions upon millions that visited Medjugorje prior to the Milosevic era were no more than religious tourists who took home with them little more than their dirty laundry and a few souvenirs.

Of course Mary did not lie! What She said is true and we know it (not believe it, but know it from much actual practice). Obviously, as we have seen far too many times, once home most the new "converts" were only converted.... to Religious Tourism! Prayer, fasting (if they even tried it!) and sacrifice came to almost a standstill.

The same story with Kibeho, Africa. (4) Mary appeared there in 1981, and it was approved in 1982.

One of the visionaries saw: "A river of blood, people who killed one another, abandoned bodies with no one to bury them, a tree on fire, an open chasm, a monster and decapitated heads."

This awful vision was the only one of its kind. In the rest of the apparitions, Our Lady, who had dark skin, encouraged the young women to pray, fast, and do penance.

Thirteen years later the world was shocked with the Rwandan genocide.

Why did it happen? After all, obviously Mary had tried to avert it.

It happened for the same reason as with the situation in Yugoslavia/Medjugorje - Talk is cheap and easy; Fasting, Prayer and Sacrifice, although free, are hard and require devotional discipline.

The bottom line, brethren, is that the Vatican could not care less about what is going on as long as the Faithful have something to entertain themselves with, so that they will not pay attention to the less-than-holy activities of the Church Administration like the preparation for the False Second Coming.

In conclusion: Cardinal or no Cardinal; Benedict or no Benedict; Church Administration or no Church Administration; Apparitions or no Apparitions - either the Faithful quit talking and start praying and fasting in earnest or Divine Mercy will be unattainable for most.

Do you think our words are harsh? Not at all when compared with what God will allow (allow, not cause) upon humanity to wake up the few who need to be awakened.

When m de P prays.... "May God have Mercy on His Elect", or invokes a prayer upon His Elect, it is primarily rooted on the Gospel according to John, Ch. 17:
[our underscoring]

[6] I have manifested thy name to the men whom thou hast given me out of the world. Thine they were, and to me thou gavest them; and they have kept thy word. [7] Now they have known, that all things which thou hast given me, are from thee: [8] Because the words which thou gavest me, I have given to them; and they have received them, and have known in very deed that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. [9] I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them whom thou hast given me: because they are thine: [10] And all my things are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

[11] And now I am not in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name whom thou has given me; that they may be one, as we also are. [12] While I was with them, I kept them in thy name. Those whom thou gavest me have I kept; and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the scripture may be fulfilled. [13] And now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy filled in themselves. [14] I have given them thy word, and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world; as I also am not of the world. [15] I pray not that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from evil.  [16] They are not of the world, as I also am not of the world.

Nonetheless, we are not to label people, nor to point fingers, nor to guess who are part of the Elect (1) (thus, of God). Appearances are quite deceiving. A quick look at the Church Administration will confirm that.

However, a good general gauge that we can use when determining who to associate with, may also be found in the Scriptures:

[34] And looking round about on them who sat about him, he saith: Behold my mother and my brethren. [35] For whosoever shall do the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother. [Mark 3]

To "Do the Will of God" does not mean "Talk about the Will of God" . Talk was, is and will ever be "Cheap". However, as we have underscored many times with full authority from God (2), we can add an otherwise invisible phrase to that verse: For whosoever shall [strive with all his heart to] do the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

(1) Who are the Elect?
(2) The Prodigal Son

You may have also read that.... [47] ....that servant who knew the will of his lord, and prepared not himself, and did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. [48] But he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more. [Luke 12]

The reading
"And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required" may cause some discomfort thus it needs to be understood under the following light.

If you place the best Filet Mignon before a starving toddler and he dies of starvation because he is still incapable of eating it, nothing will be required from the toddler, but much will be required from whomever was careless enough not to realize that, even in the simple matter of eating, there is a learning process.

[80] And the child (John the Baptist) grew, and was strengthened in spirit; and was in the deserts until the day of his manifestation to Israel. [Luke 1]

[39] And after they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their city Nazareth. [40] And the child (Jesus) grew, and waxed strong, full of wisdom; and the grace of God was in him. [Luke 2]

So, children of God, don't despair; never give up! (1) As the saying goes "keep plugging along" (2) because, if your heart is in the right place, He is right at your side helping you with every breath you take while you are trying to do the Will of God.

We simply could not give you any better news than this.

(1) Don't despair; Never give up!
(2) Keep plugging along

From (Mr.) WG @ Canada

Although I in no way agree with your stated claims that the 'catholic' faith contains the 'most' truth…. including the stated 'dogmas' of Catholicism… I noticed that in your treatment on 'papal infallibility'…. you refer to it as meaning the pope cannot be wrong or mistaken in ANYTHING he says/does.

It’s been MY understanding…. that the concept specifically limits it to when he addresses ALL the faithful, on matters of 'faith and morals'…..thus….your categorization seems to constitute a 'straw man' argument…. the easier to demolish…. but somewhat false in its formulation.

A.  It seems that you have misread/misunderstood what was written regarding both issues.

Regarding "...
your stated claims that the 'catholic' faith contains the 'most' truth…. including the stated 'dogmas' of Catholicism"

Our exact wording regarding such matter is: The Catholic Faith is the one Faith which has the greatest concentration of Divinely Revealed Truths. By no means it has them all since God is the only Plenitude of Truth, but no other Faith has as many Truths in its Spiritual Treasury as the Catholic Faith.  (1)

miguel de Portugal is in the position to make that assertion without any doubts, but, as we have stated elsewhere (2):

Should you believe what miguel de Portugal says through the pages of The M+G+R Foundation? You do not have to believe it. What is written is only for those who have Eyes to see and have Ears to hear. Woe to miguel if he does not speak loud and clear. Nothing has changed in the manner in which God has communicated with His children in the last 6,000 years.

Regarding the issue about infallibility you state :"It’s been MY understanding…. that the concept specifically limits it to when he addresses ALL the faithful, on matters of 'faith and morals'…..thus….your categorization seems to constitute a 'straw man' argument…. the easier to demolish…. but somewhat false in it's formulation."

As in the opening part (3) of our document (4) shows, you are technically correct; the Vatican I decree "makes it clear that the scope of this authority is limited; it applies to a Papal definition of doctrine on faith and morals, intended to be binding on all".
However, there is a real problem with "creeping infallibility": the effort on the part of the Vatican and its propagandists to cloak the Papacy with (unjustified) total infallibility, or even with impeccability.
Quoting from our document on infallibility (4):

2.      The Vatican has given the doctrine of infallibility a very wide interpretation, so as to cover almost any Papal teachings with the mantle of infallibility.  Pope John Paul II said in 1993:

"Alongside this infallibility of ex cathedra definitions, there is the charism of the Holy Spirit's assistance, granted to Peter and his successors so that they would not err in matters of faith and morals, but rather shed great light on the Christian people. This charism is not limited to exceptional cases, but embraces in varying degrees the whole exercise of the Magisterium.  ...  We will close by noting that the exercise of the Magisterium is a concrete expression of the Roman Pontiff's contribution to the development of the Church's teaching."[5]

Therefore, as article 2037 of the 1994 Catechism of the Catholic Church says:

"The law of God entrusted to the Church is taught to the faithful as the way of life and truth. ...  They have the duty of observing the constitutions and decrees conveyed by the legitimate authority of the Church. Even if they concern disciplinary matters, these determinations call for docility in charity."[6]

In other words, the Vatican says the faithful are to obey all teachings issued by the Catholic Church, in matters of discipline as well as in faith and morals.

The Vatican now extends its claim of infallibility even to the canonization of saints.  A 1997 decree by Ratzinger's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) says that "truths connected to revelation by historical necessity and which are to be held definitively" by Catholics include "the canonizations of saints (dogmatic facts)."[8]

If this ruling means what it says, those who deny that the founder of Opus Dei is a saint are out of communion with Rome.  Meanwhile, there's the counter-example of Joan of Arc, who was burned as a heretic in 1431, found innocent in a Church re-trial in 1456, and canonized in 1920.[12]

3.      In conjunction with this new doctrine on Papal authority, the trend since Pius IX has been to promote the Pope as a living icon and a media star, and to make him the center of Catholicism.

4.      With the media-star status of current Popes goes encouragement of adulation of the Pope, and uncritical support for his teachings and actions.

Catholic apologist Patrick Madrid says: "We call the Pope 'The Holy Father' because he extends heaven's paternal presence."[23] He adds, "The Lord kept His promise to be with the Church always, and this promise has been kept, par excellence, in the office of the Papacy."[24]  Madrid describes St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican as "the universal focal point of the Christian religion"[25]- even though the Basilica was funded, in part, by the sale of indulgences.  (It was these sales, directed by Julius II and Leo X, that sparked Luther's protest in 1517).  In the conclusion of his book-length defense of the Papacy against its critics, Madrid says that Peter "was the first in a two-thousand-year line of bishops of Rome who stand at the center of the Christian Church.  In a sense you can say the popes are its center."[26]  (Do you see the bait-and-switch being done: the substitution of a human ruler for God as the head and center of the Church?)

What Madrid says, many have echoed- including the current Pope.  On the day after his election, Benedict XVI told the Cardinals that during "the death and the funeral of the lamented John Paul II ... the entire world looked to him with trust. To many it seemed as if that intense participation, amplified to the confines of the planet by the social communications media, was like a choral request for help addressed to the pope by modern humanity which, wracked by fear and uncertainty, questions itself about the future."[27]

Ratzinger seemed to put himself forward as the one to answer that "request for help," by reason of his election by God to the Papacy:

"If the weight of the responsibility that now lies on my poor shoulders is enormous, the divine power on which I can count is surely immeasurable: 'You are Peter and on this rock I will build my Church.' Electing me as the Bishop of Rome, the Lord wanted me as his Vicar, he wished me to be the 'rock' upon which everyone may rest with confidence."[28]

These, indeed, are new teachings!  Who knew that "everyone may rest with confidence" in the God-appointed Bishop of Rome, or that the mass interest in the funeral of John Paul II constituted a "choral request for help addressed to the pope by modern humanity"

Thank you for the opportunity to make these points crystal clear should anyone else misunderstand our position and/or intent.

(3)  Popes – supported by the Councils of the Roman Catholic Church – have claimed to teach infallibly on matters of faith and morals.  This claim was written into Roman Catholic dogma in 1870, with the decree Pastor Aeternus by the First Vatican Council.

The text of the Vatican I decree on papal infallibility makes it clear that the scope of this authority is limited; it applies to a Papal definition of doctrine on faith and morals, intended to be binding on all:

I have been accessing your web site for a number of years.  I have also been through most of your web site which has been extremely educational to me.  I
have never corresponded, and at this point am moved to introduce myself.

I have been considering for quite some time whether I should contribute financially to your organization, as from reading on the site you clearly have financial needs that aren't met.  I already contribute to a number of charities, so it isn't a matter of whether I should give, I just never felt like I had the spiritual "green light" to do so with The M+G+R Foundation.

Is there something you could share about the organization, how the money is used, etc., that would help me here?

A. Thank you for your interest, kind words and consideration. However, if a refresher about our function (1) and about the person of miguel de Portugal (2) does not provide you with the information/inspiration necessary to assist us, we prefer that you do not - even though we could use it as you have noted.

Have you heard that.... current research has implicated vitamin D deficiency as a major factor in the pathology of at least 17 varieties of cancer as well as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, muscle wasting, birth defects, periodontal disease, and more? (1)

In a recent study entitled Vitamin D and Prevention of Breast Cancer, that shocked the medical world, the findings suggest Vitamin D could prevent up to 50 percent of breast cancer. Women in the study who had the highest levels of Vitamin D had the lowest levels of breast cancer.

... a new research study has determined that drinking milk - the main vitamin D fortified food – does not raise vitamin D levels. This is because it is fortified with the less effective form of Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol).

... sunscreen doses not prevent cancer – even melanoma. In fact, research suggests that sunscreen may actually cause the deadly skin cancer called melanoma which kills more than 8400 Americans each year. And we now know that many of the ingredients in sunscreen actually cause cancer themselves. Furthermore, sunscreen prevents 99% of the vitamin D production from the sun.

... in a complete overview of all the studies on sun exposure and melanoma, researchers found that while sunburn was associated with increases in melanoma, regular exposure to sunlight decreased the risk of melanoma by 18%.

...  non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) rarely spreads, is rarely lethal, and is easily removed with simple surgery. ... The sun prevents up to 16 other types of deadly cancer -- which do spread and do kill. So the benefits of the sun may far outweigh the small risks of skin cancer.

In reference to the post of June 3rd (1) about the dangers associated with the use of cell phones....

For 10 years or so, I've been aware of data at the cellular level that shows how the radio waves of cell phones disrupt DNA.  Cancer was always on the table after that...
But I have a useful tip:  The intensity of the waves at the point of broadcast (typically right at the ear, and very close to the brain) is the highest, and they diminish exponentially with distance, so even a little distance cuts the risk quite a lot.

Using a wired headset, and holding the phone away from your body, even by 10 cm, can reduce the risk to where it is trivial.

Thank you for sharing your professional opinion with our readership. The solution seems simple enough.

We wonder how many will put it into practice.

The priests of the sex abuse collective known as the Society of St. John (which abused boys in St. Gregory's Academy - run by the FSSP in the Scranton, PA Diocese - causing scandals, lawsuits, and broken lives) have re-surfaced.  In Paraguay. With the knowing approbation of the local bishop, Bishop Rogelio Ricardo Livieres Plano, of the Diocese of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. (1)

The bishop just happens to be a priest of Opus Dei. (2)

Am I surprised? No. From observation of the persons and details of this scenario, the link with the Opus Dei was obvious to me.

How else do we explain a young priest (Fr. Carlos Urrutigoity), with no real track record of parish/pastoral experience, being enabled and showered with ample funds to establish a "pious society" of clerics and laity? As if this 'apostolate' was mandated by God Himself and gleefully enabled by Prelates?

Have we not heard this one before?

The sheer number of such clerics and laity establishing 'new apostolates', as if they materialize out of thin air. Shades of LaSalette?

"...Many convents are no longer houses of God, but the grazing-grounds of Asmodeus and his like." (The term 'Convent' can refer to orders of either gender).

"Lucifer together with a large number of demons will be unloosed from hell; they will put an end to faith little by little, even in those dedicated to God. They will blind them in such a way, that, unless they are blessed with a special grace, these people will take on the spirit of these angels of hell..."

"...there will be churches built to serve these spirits." (3)

From (Mr.) LP  @ US

I recently viewed two Frank Capra films from the World War II era about the rise of fascism. They were US government-sponsored training films for the military, and were later released for general use.
Several things stood out, in the "Why We Fight" film and the "This is Germany" film:
1. The War Department was explicitly against authoritarian rule (whether by dictators, feudal lords, or autocratic kings). They praised democracy, the rule of law, constitutionalism, and freedom of speech and religion. To show the common moral code of the religions, they quoted from the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Koran, and Confucius. Equality and liberty were promoted as traditional American values.
2. The War Department explicitly blamed the German upper classes, including the political, military, and industrial leaders, for fostering the rise of Hitler and his Nazis.
3. Anyone who saw the "Why We Fight" training film would know that World War II started in September 1931, with the Japanese attack on Manchuria. The film said that September 18, 1931 should be as widely known and infamous a date as Pearl Harbor.
September 1931 ... just a few months (or weeks) after Lucia was told by Heaven that time had run out ... (1)

(1) From the real chronology (2) of the Fatima events:

'Later'  the Virgin Mary  complained to Lucia regarding the consecration:

"They did not wish to heed my request. Like the King of France,  they will repent and do it, but it will be late. Russia will have already spread her errors throughout the world, provoking wars, and persecutions of the Church; the Holy Father will have much to suffer."

The definition of  "later" is established through a letter from Lucia  to Pe. Gonçalves  dated January 21, 1935, wherein she states: "Three years ago Our Lord was very unhappy because His request (about the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary) was not fulfilled. I made that known to the Bishop in a letter."

"Three years ago" would place the date signified by "later" in the year 1931.  We have not been able to find a copy of the referenced to letter Lucia wrote to the Bishop, however, other sources have placed the exact date at August 1931. Although we cannot vouch for the other sources, the date that they claim such letter was written to the Bishop is coherent with all else; therefore, we will accept it as valid.

Did you know that.... the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) Web site briefly carried a fake article claiming that the famed rapper Tupac Shakur was alive and living in New Zealand? (1)

A group of hackers took over the organization’s computer systems on Saturday night.

In  addition to posting the fake news article, the group began posting passwords and e-mail addresses of people from a wide range of news organizations and other information belonging to PBS.

The article was posted at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday on the PBS NewsHour news blog, “The Rundown.”  As late as 2:30 a.m. on Monday, PBS had still not regained control of its Web site as the hackers continued to post defaced pages.

The M+G+R Foundation comments
Now that such disinformation technique has been amply proven beyond any doubt, imagine what will happen when (not if, but when) someone decides to do something similar to what Orson Welles did on October 30, 1938. To wit:

The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama anthology series Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938 and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. Directed and narrated by actor and filmmaker Orson Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells' novel The War of the Worlds.

The first two thirds of the 60-minute broadcast were presented as a series of simulated "news bulletins", which suggested to many listeners that an actual alien invasion by Martians was currently in progress. Compounding the issue was the fact that the Mercury Theatre on the Air was a 'sustaining show' (it ran without commercial breaks), thus adding to the program's quality of realism. Although there were sensationalist accounts in the press about a supposed panic in response to the broadcast, the precise extent of listener response has been debated.
Note that the "hacking" lasted at least three hours. A nuclear war can be launched in 30 minutes.

Only those who have placed their trust in God and live under the guidance of the Holy Spirit will make it (essentially unruffled) through the 21st Century version of a "joke" like Mr. Welles'.

Just another reminder of how frail our "peace" and our "sanity" are unless we are well anchored in God.

From miguel de Portugal

Among the May 15 posts (1) there was one about a very conclusive study tying the massive deaths of bees to the use of cell phones. Our comment was:

Not to worry. You will not lose your cell phone. Mobile phones are such a lucrative business worldwide, and so many business activities depend on them, that even if they killed humans, their use will continue to be promoted and to flourish.

On May 31st the New York Times carried a story (2) headlined thus: Cell phone Radiation May Cause Cancer, Advisory Panel Says

In the story we read:

The World Health Organization's cancer research agency, has said that use of cell phones and other wireless communication devices are “possibly carcinogenic to humans.”

A World Health Organization panel has concluded that cell phones are “possibly carcinogenic,’’ putting the popular devices in the same category as certain dry cleaning chemicals and pesticides, as a potential threat to human health.

The finding, from the agency's International Agency for Research on Cancer, adds to concerns among a small but growing group of experts about the health effects of low levels of radiation emitted by cell phones. The panel, which consisted of 31 scientists from 14 countries, was led by Dr. Jonathan M. Samet, a physician and epidemiologist at the University of Southern California and a member of President Obama's National Cancer Advisory Board.

The group didn’t conduct any new research but reviewed numerous existing studies that focused on the health effects of radio frequency magnetic fields, which are emitted by cell phones. During a news conference, Dr. Samet said the panel’s decision to classify cell phones as “possibly carcinogenic” was based largely on epidemiological data showing an increased risk among heavy cell phone users of a rare type of brain tumor called a glioma.

We unofficially heard, over four years ago,  that university medical researchers in Sweden had conclusively established the link between cell phone use and cancer but were hesitant to publish it since another Nordic country, Finland, is home to one of the most popular cell phone brands - NOKIA. The concern, again unofficially, was that the university would lose funds or grants for publishing such damaging information.

For the record, the "unofficial" link was an MD cancer researcher in another European Union country.

Now, that the proverbial cat is beginning to get out of the proverbial bag via the New York Times, our comment is exactly as it was on May 15th: "...even if they (cell phones) killed humans, their use will continue to be promoted and to flourish."

They'll Spin and Spin the studies, data, etc. until they will "conclusively prove" that the usage of cell phones actually improves the mental processes.... just like High Fructose corn syrup is "beneficial to our health". (3)

For the Masters of the World, human life is worth only as much the amount they can profit from it. Given a potential hefty profit, they will then, piously, invoke its "sacredness".

Are you aware that.... the CIA will not release all information it has on Opus Dei? (1)

Public Citizen is back in court fighting yet another Freedom of Information Act case. This time, the powers that be at the CIA seem dead-set on maintaining an unnecessary cloak of secrecy on decades old records about Opus Dei. The case began in June 2009 when Harry Cason, who is working toward his Ph.D. at the City University of New York, submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the CIA.

Cason is working on a dissertation about U.S. involvement in Spain’s transformation during Francisco Franco’s regime. He asked for any records or information about the Catholic group Opus Dei generated before 1980. He cited two reports he knew of, one completed in 1952 and another in 1964 that was referenced in a letter from an official at the American Embassy in Madrid to a Department of State official.

The CIA refused to fully respond to Cason’s request. Although it released 207 pages of records, it also said that it couldn’t confirm or deny the existence of other records responsive to the request. It said that acknowledging the existence or nonexistence of responsive records would itself reveal information that is exempt under FOIA – i.e., by revealing whether the agency has records about a covert operation or a confidential source.

Seeking a more substantive response, Cason sued the CIA on Jan. 3.

The M+G+R Foundation comments: Considering the long history of CIA-Opus Dei (2) relations and the US Supreme Court relations to Opus Dei, (3), we are not surprised at their stonewalling. Nor will we be surprised when someone finds out that the documents were destroyed by mistake, or moths ate them, or someone spilt a coffee maker full of coffee over all of them, or maybe an al-Qaeda agent stole them....

Do we sound sarcastic? Why not? Besides prayer, that is the only other reaction that we can have about what seems to be the essential takeover of the US by the Opus Dei. (4)

Did you know that.... hundreds of thousands of milk fish washed up dead at Taal Lake in Talisay, Batangas, south of Manila on Sunday? (1)

"About 500 metric tons (500,000 kilos) of fish, worth more than 50 million pesos (U.S. $ 1.159 million) were seen floating in the water in the six towns of Batangas province the past two days", a local mayor told Reuters.

According to a local town agriculturist, the cause of the fish kill was a "sudden" climate change in the area.

Now they are soft-pedaling the volcano issue and giving "points" to the man-made global warming camp.

Originally the news reported:

A sudden change in water temperature of a lake surrounding a restive volcano in the Philippines has killed more than 700 metric tons of fish, a government agency said. (2)

....June 1st started with a proverbial astronomical bang? - A Rare Eclipse of the Midnight Sun (1)

"It might sound like a contradiction to have a solar eclipse in the middle of the night, but this is what we will see in northern Norway, Sweden and Finland on June 1st," says Knut Joergen Roed Oedegaard, an astrophysicist at the Norwegian Centre for Science Education in Oslo.

At this time of year, he explains, the sun doesn't set in Arctic parts of the world, so a solar eclipse is theoretically possible at all hours of the day. When the clock strikes local midnight in northern Norway at the end of June 1st, about half of the lingering sun will be covered by the Moon.

The fact that this eclipse is partial rather than total will not diminish its beauty. On the contrary, it could be spectacular. At midnight in Norway, the bloated golden disk of the sun will be hanging low in the north. Imagine that (sun) disk transformed into a crescent, surrounded by the red and orange hues of a sunset sky.

The M+G+R Foundation comments: This event sounds as contradictory as the proverbial "When hell freezes over".

(2) If you prefer to evaluate positions using the "liberal", "moderate" and "conservative" labels, we would fall in the "practicing conservative" group, without the fanaticism which most "talking conservatives" exhibit. The difference between "practicing conservative" and "talking conservative" is that the first strives to live what Jesus Christ taught, while the second one, the "talking conservative", just talks about the faith and practices just enough for others to see.
