Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself

How Important Is It?

How It Can Be Done In A Global Scale

PURPOSE

The purpose of this brief document is to illustrate the tremendous power over others that God has place in our hands and how to use it on a Global scale.

BACKGROUND

The concept that most Christians have heard, and even talk about, but seldom practice is:

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself!

This is such an important instrument for the salvation of mankind that it has been mentioned quite often in the Holy Scriptures - even in the Old Testament - as you can confirm below:

Seek not revenge, nor be mindful of the injury of thy citizens. Thou shalt love thy friend as thyself. I am the Lord. [Leviticus 19:18]

Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [Matthew 19:19]

And the second is like to this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [Matthew 22:39]

And the second is like to it: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these. [Mark 12:31]

He answering, said: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind: and thy neighbour as thyself. [Luke 10:27]

For Thou shalt not commit adultery: Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness: Thou shalt not covet: and if there be any other commandment, it is comprised in this word, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [Romans 13:9]

For all the law is fulfilled in one word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [Galatians 5:14]

If then you fulfill the royal law, according to the scriptures, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself; you do well. [James 2:8]

Some may ask: "Fine, but who is my neighbor?"

DETAILS

Who IS our neighbor you ask?

Well, Jesus answered that in no uncertain terms:

Which of these three, in thy opinion, was neighbour to him that fell among the robbers? But he said: He that shewed mercy to him. And Jesus said to him: Go, and do thou in like manner. [Luke 10:36-37]

Others may ask: "Fine, but what is Mercy?" (as with "love thy neighbor", most Christians have heard about it, and even talk about it, but seldom practice it)

Go then and learn what this meaneth, I will have mercy and not sacrifice. For I am not come to call the just, but sinners. [Matthew 9:13]

....and the incentive for us is great!

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. [Matthew 5:7]

Now we can almost hear the grumbling: "O.K., but what IS your point?"

Our point is that we do not even have to know "our neighbor" to "Go, and do thou in like manner". As a matter of fact, one can be in the middle of a desert, seeing no one yet bringing hordes of sinners back to Jesus: "For Jesus not come to call the just, but sinners" and it is in our power to help Him.

How do we exercise that power?

We will share with you how miguel de Portugal (1) taps into that power; a power which is available to all who believe.

First, it is practiced upon anyone that he may encounter during his physical interaction with the world - which is quite limited since miguel's life is more like that of a cloistered monk who only physically interacts with the world to take care of the basic needs of his body and his work.

However, the most important and furthest reaching aspect of leading sinners back to God, as Jesus wants us to do, is through prayer.

This is how serious miguel takes the "love thy neighbor as thyself" command as he leads "his neighbors" to Jesus through prayers:

(1) The three standing intentions the merits of every daily Mass offered are:

(a) In reparation for sins committed by our brothers and sisters - sins for which Divine Mercy requires reparation before His Mercy begins to act upon that soul.
(b) On behalf of those who have no one praying for their spiritual benefit.
(c) On behalf of those who are in most need of the Mercy of God.

(2) A decade of the Rosary is offered every day for the benefit of each of the following:

(a) Those who are suffering throughout the world as the result of our greed and iniquities.
(b) Those who are entrapped in any kind of addiction.
(c) Those who miguel may come across physically as he interact with the world to take care of the basic needs of his body and his work.

The above listed prayers and intentions are the daily ones, however, on a once or twice per week basis, various Rosary decades are offered for other groups of individuals in need.

God knows exactly who needs them and He Will apply those merits in accordance to His Will.

Someone may now say: "Fine, but what about our needs?"

Our needs? Mention them to Him in passing as you are rushing to offer Spiritual First Aid to many of His children who are in a far worse condition than you are.

"Does that work?" you may now ask. "Absolutely!" we resolutely assure you of it. Read on:

Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you. [Matthew 6:31-34]

CONCLUSION

We now want to share with you an example of the many and dramatic conversions that Jesus can achieve when those who love their neighbours as themselves place in His Hands the merits of the prayers offered for those not even known to us.

Steven Bancarz: From New Age Blogger to Christian: When I Encountered Jesus (2)

We came across this page because Steven's page had linked to some of our documents where we denounce the New Age Movement. We read the text of Steve's testimonial and viewed the 14 minute YouTube video of his testimony. You may read the text of Steven's testimony or scroll down to a video titled From New Age to Jesus - My Testimony by Steven Bancarz and view it.

They contain the same information but the video is more impacting. Steven's testimony should inspire all to pray even more for "thy neighbor" - "neighbors" who are not even known to those offering the prayers.
