PURPOSE

The purpose of this News Commentary Section is to assist the faithful in recognizing the signs and lies of These End Times. Somehow, many self appointed Shepherds of These Times are trying to convince the faithful that the Apocalypse will be, using street slang, "a piece of cake" for them and "hell" for all others. They are led to believe that if they "do this" and "do that" they do not have a thing to worry about (of course, so long as that between the "do this" and the "do that" they send in a donation).

Others lead the faithful to believe that "All Is Well" and will continue to be, of course, as long as those donations keep coming in...

After cows' feet fall apart, feedlot drug is questioned. (1)

It's no surprise that America's cattle are pumped full of pharmaceuticals, but Reuters digs in to one particular drug - a muscle-building feed additive known as Zilmax that's manufactured by Merck and has been available in the US since 2007 - whose alleged ill effects may be painfully visible.

Using Department of Agriculture documents, Reuters pieces together what happened in early August at a Washington state slaughterhouse that serviced Tyson Foods, and reports on it publicly for the first time: Cattle were being trucked in, but some nearly couldn't make it off the ramps ... because their hooves had fallen off.

Seventeen of the creatures had to be put down over two days, and according to documents and Reuters' sources, all had taken Zilmax. (And a review of FDA documents shows 285 cattle have been confirmed dead or euthanized since 2007 after ingesting Zilmax.)

Their feet were "basically coming apart," says an animal science professor who was provided with photos of the affected cattle by an unnamed person. Tyson reacted quickly to the August incident, immediately saying it would no longer receive cattle that had taken Zilmax; other meatpackers followed suit, and Merck temporarily put all Zilmax sales on ice.

Scientists have yet to prove a link, and Merck insists in a statement to Reuters that "several third-party experts were brought in ... [and found] that the hoof loss was not due to the fact these animals had received Zilmax."

It's planning more "field evaluations" of Zilmax, which some feedlot owners have dubbed Vitamin Z for its ability to cheaply tack on 33 extra pounds of salable meat to a steer.

Merck says it has every intention of bringing Zilmax back to the market; US and Canadian sales of the drug hit $160 million in 2012. Click for Reuters' fullreport, which shares some theories as to what could be going wrong with cattle who take Zilmax; one is that the additive could worsen common feedlot nutritional disorders present in cattle whose diet contains too much starch.

miguel de Portugal comments: More of a warning than a reminder.

It is obvious that the cause and effect relationship is quite clear.

It is obvious that Merck will refuse to acknowledge it and will do whatever it takes to get Zilmax back on the market.

Besides helping humans gain unneeded weight, only God knows what else Zilmax and/or its derivatives do to humans.

Watch what you ingest!  Yes, time is short but the few left need to be in very good health!

Bioterrorism concerns keep genetic code for new strain of botulism under wraps. (1)

The discovery of a new strain of botulism -- the first in 40 years -- has spurred bioterrorism concerns among state health officials, who have removed the deadly toxin's genetic sequencing information from recently published research, a move that some scientists find alarming.

The new toxin, Clostridium botulinum, was discovered in California this year by the state Department of Public Health. An infant who contracted the illness survived, although the state health department has not said when or where the baby was examined or treated.

While the agency's findings appeared in the Journal of Infectious Diseases in October, the genetic sequence that makes up the botulism toxin was not included in the report.

Removal of the information has spawned concern among scientists who regard access to all scientific research findings as sacrosanct. The issue is reminiscent of a January 2012 controversy over a federal advisory board's call for scientific research into avian flu, known as H5N1, to be kept under wraps so it could not be exploited by a rogue state or bioterrorist group. The research eventually was published in scientific journals several months later.

miguel de Portugal comments: Leave it to man - The only way humanity cooperates with God is coming up with various and sundry auto destruction methods so that Divine Justice has always many options available!

Amazing! Simply amazing!

Popular Voice in the Capitol? It's the Pope's. (1)

Shortly before leaving the Capitol for the holiday recess, Senate Democrats gathered behind closed doors to lay out an agenda for 2014. When the majority leader, Harry Reid, exhorted colleagues to "deal with the issue of income inequality," the talk took a spiritual turn.

"You know," declared Senator Bernard Sanders, the Vermont independent, who caucuses with Democrats, "we have a strong ally on our side in this issue - and that is the pope."

That Mr. Sanders, who is Jewish, would invoke the pope to Mr. Reid, a Mormon, delighted Roman Catholics in the room. ("Bernie! You're quoting my pope; this is good!" Senator Richard J. Durbin of Illinois recalled thinking.) Beyond interfaith banter, the comment underscored a larger truth: From 4,500 miles away at the Vatican, Pope Francis, who has captivated the world with a message of economic justice and tolerance, has become a presence in Washington's policy debate.

"He has given a number of us in the political ranks encouragement, and really a challenge, to step up and remember many of the values that brought us to public life," Mr. Durbin said.

Francis' denunciation of an "economy of exclusion" goes to the heart of the debate between the two parties over the role of government.

Mr. Durbin, who attended Catholic schools but, as a senator, switched parishes to avoid being denied communion because of his support for abortion rights, no longer feels "beleaguered by the conservative leadership." Senator Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont, a Democrat who served as an altar boy from grade school through college, described himself as feeling "liberated" after a recent speech to a university center on Catholic intellectual life brought nary a question about his support for abortion rights. He credited Francis for changing the tone.

"I felt such a relief," Mr. Leahy said.

miguel de Portugal comments: Never mind what Jesus taught in no uncertain terms.... it is what the Pope says that really matters.... all the way back to the dawn of the Imperial Church.

The difference now is that said "Pope" is managing to drag with him Jews, Mormons, et al.

All is on schedule and in accordance to plan!

Motorola Skin Tattoo Patent Contains Bizarre Big Brother Twist. (1)

Motorola's invention relates to a system for providing auxiliary voice input to a mobile communication device or "MCD." The system comprises an electronic skin tattoo capable of being applied to a throat region of the body or embedded in a collar or band that would be worn around the throat a user. The collar or band may be flexible or stiff.

The Bizarre Twist

While (the reporter was) reading Motorola's patent, a very bizarre entry was discovered. It follows:

"Optionally, the electronic skin tattoo can further include a galvanic skin response detector to detect skin resistance of a user. It is contemplated that a user that may be nervous or engaging in speaking falsehoods may exhibit different galvanic skin responses than a more confident, truth telling individual."

What is this entry doing in a consumer friendly invention?

Could this aspect of the technology be representing a next generation lie detector apparatus? Could this technology be for military interrogations? Is this a possible tool for the police or other governmental agencies? However this ends up being used in the market, its potential for un-friendly applications is rather high.

miguel de Portugal comments: Summarizing: A built-in lying detector.

It is interesting to see the lengths the Big Brother Squad is going to fullfill their plans. However, it does not even come close to be as interesting as their facial expressions will be when God vaporizes their well laid plans.

Introduction by miguel de Portugal

We have spoken about, and given several examples illustrating, how the faith has faded in Portugal. The following YouTube video was sent to me by close friends/family in Portugal.

What you will see is part of a Christmas program by a local singing group. The location is Nazaré, Portugal. That town was the main Marian center in Portugal up to the time of Fatima. With that said - take a look at the dresses/skirt length those high school age girls are wearing.

The YouTube Video

miguel de Portugal comments: That is how "the faith is being kept" in Portugal, the country. It is not hat they have not been informed about what is taking place.... one of the lead singers was named by his family after me.

As I often say.... If I feel the way I do about these things, how must Jesus and Mary must feel!! Let us console them through our actions and prayers.

and if that were not enough....

News Report No. 1

From Darryl Madden, Director of FEMA Ready Campaign

For many, the New Year is a time for setting goals and making new resolutions for the year to come. If you are anything like me, each year you find yourself resolving to achieve a healthier lifestyle - eating right, exercising more, losing a few pounds.

Setting personal health goals in the New Year is great, but improving overall well-being involves taking actions to be prepared. Knowing what to do in an emergency is vital to the health and safety of you and your loved ones.

This year, the Ready Campaign is challenging you to be Prepared in 2014. Start the New Year by connecting with family and friends on the importance of preparedness. Not only can the information shared potentially save a life, connecting with those you love has an added benefit. People who have strong social connections tend to be healthier and more resilient.

I know the hardest part of keeping a resolution is sustaining it after those first few weeks of the year, but you don’t have to do it all at once.

First, start by simply having the conversation: who to call, where to meet and what to pack in an emergency.

Build your family’s emergency supply kit by picking up recommended emergency items over the first month or two of the year.

Create a preparedness checklist. This should include things such as emergency phone numbers and copies of important documents, and information on how to register for programs such as the American Red Cross Safe and Well website.

Set reminders throughout the year to talk about and update your family emergency communication plan. If you have children, include them in conversations and planning activities. The Ready Campaign has age-appropriate tools and resources you can use to introduce disaster preparedness to them. And you can learn more about talking with kids after disasters so you’re ready to help them through tough situations.

Have pets? Make sure they are a part of your planning process. Create a pet go-bag to help keep them safe during an emergency. Find helpful tips from FEMA on how to plan for your furry friends.

Older adults often have special needs in a disaster and may depend on medications or other special requirements. If older adults are a part of your social connection, be sure to include them in your preparedness planning efforts.

Emergencies can and will happen, but being ready can minimize the impact they have on the overall well-being of you and your family.

This year, make disaster preparedness part of your New Year’s resolution. On January 1st 2014, join the Resolve To Be Ready Thunderclap to promote a message of preparedness to your social connections on New Year’s Day. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #Prepared2014 whenever you discuss family preparedness on Twitter.

Sunspot goes wild! X-class solar flare blasts in our direction. (1)

An image from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory shows a blast of activity originating from an active sunspot region at the center of the sun's disk on Tuesday. The sun erupted with a powerful solar flare on Tuesday, disrupting radio traffic and sending a blast of electrically charged particles our way. And there may be more blasts to come.

The geomagnetic storm generated by Tuesday's flare won't be that disruptive, but it could have an impact.

NASA expects the CME to sweep over us somewhere around 3 p.m. ET Wednesday.

The current space weather report says there's a chance we'll see more X-class flares through Friday. Although space storms can be damaging, they can be beautiful as well: Be on the watch for enhanced northern lights over the next couple of nights. Are Russia's Gay-Haters in the Closet? (1)

The official homophobia of President Vladimir Putin's third term in power is threatening to backfire on the Russian Orthodox Church, in whose name the anti-gay campaign began in 2012.

Andrei Kuraev, a widely-known Orthodox theologian and proselytizer, is using social networks to expose a "gay system" within the church, fanning a scandal not unlike the one that occurred in the Roman Catholic church shortly before Pope Benedict XVI's surprise abdication last year.

Kuraev claims he wants to clean up the church.

As a warning to the Russian church hierarchy, the deacon recalled the gay scandals in the Catholic Church, which led Pope Francis to admit the existence of a "gay lobby" in the Vatican. The Catholic church "seems to have realized now that if you keep sweeping garbage under bishops' prayer rugs, the stink in the church will be unbearable," he wrote.

Kuraev is taking a calculated risk: He has plenty of supporters among churchgoers. "The cleansing he wants to carry out using his reputation and public status will hurt many people's reputations and, what's more, their connections, their finances, their long-term alliances with bureaucrats and law enforcers, who knew everything but covered it up or even used it," political commentator Alexander Morozov wrote on Facebook. "God will help him."

The political stakes are high. Once the church and the state agreed it was legitimate to attack gays, they became vulnerable to attempts to prove their hypocrisy. After all, Russia has as many gays in positions of power as any other country, except here they have to nod along with the homophobic official rhetoric.

"The all-around homophobia actively pushed by our bosses in the last two years will now start bearing fruit," editor Alexander Shmelyev wrote on Facebook. "How soon should we expect a fired bureaucrat to start outing a 'gay lobby' within the presidential administration?"

miguel de Portugal comments: Another prayer answered! Now, of course, the question is how long will it be before Kuraev has "an accident",

We do, however, have two other comments:

(a) It is typical for undeclared homosexuals, who despise themselves for their sexual orientation, to redirect their self hate towards those who have acknowledged their homosexuality. This action-reaction is like a fundamental Law of Physics.

(b) We do not consider Putin's law an attack on homosexuals. As we understand it, it is a law banning "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations to minors." Before Putin even thought/spoke about that, we had published, back in 1996, such concept as one of the two items which defined the problems associated with homosexuality (2):

Redefining The Problem

The true problems lie in:

1.- The persecution of homosexuals; and
2.- The promotion of the proliferation of homosexual lifestyle.

Closing the door on Windows: A guide to changing operating systems. (1)

Microsoft's support of Windows XP is ending. So are Windows 7 sales. And Windows 8 doesn't cut it. It's time to consider alternatives to the long-venerated OS.

Is it time for you to dump Windows XP, or maybe to abandon Windows altogether? Windows 8 has improved significantly with the 8.1 upgrade. Nevertheless, for many users, Windows 8's modern-style interface - incorporating major changes like Live Tiles and the removal of the Start menu - remains an object of scorn. And security has always been a bigger headache for Windows than for other platforms.

If you're still running Windows XP, making the switch to Windows 8.1 - or to Windows 7, if you can find it - will probably involve replacing more than just the operating system. Your current hardware may not be able to handle a newer Windows OS; and even if it can, you'll likely need to replace software and peripheral devices, as well.

miguel de Portugal comments: It is amazing to see that not only humans are blind; corporate entities are too.... which really follows since corporate entities are compose of humans.

Instead of beefing up the well accepted and sought after Windows XP, Microsoft's "Empire" might just collapse under the weight of repeated failures. Of course, this really does not matter any more. We are just sharing anther perfect example of corporate blindness.

Global Persecution of Christians Doubled In 2013, With Syria Accounting For Half Of Killings. (1)

Reported cases of Christians killed for their faith around the world doubled in 2013 compared to 2012, with killings in Syria numbering more than the global total of 2012, according to an annual survey by the nondenominational Christian group Open Doors.

Open Doors documented 2,123 martyr killings in 2013 compared to 1,201 in 2012. Syria alone accounted for 1,213 deaths in 2013. The numbers are based on media reports and considered a minimum count.

"Often completely unaddressed in the West is the fact that Christians are the largest persecuted minority in the world," Open Doors USA President/CEO David Curry said in a statement.

miguel de Portugal comments: Why is God allowing this? Because God needs our prayers to enable Him to act because that is the way He set up the Creation of man and our interaction with Him (2).

Target says that personal information - including phone numbers and email and mailing addresses - was stolen from as many as 70 million customers in its pre-Christmas data breach. That was substantially more customers than Target had previously said were affected.

The chain also indicated its sales have been hurt by the breach,...

The company told customers Friday that its ongoing investigation of the breach has shown that more personal information had been stolen than it was aware of before and more customers were affected.

The company said customers won't be liable for the cost of any fraudulent charges that stemmed from the breach.

Report: NSA maps pathway into computers. (1)

The National Security Agency has implanted software in nearly 100,000 computers around the world - but not in the United States - that allows the U.S. to conduct surveillance on those machines, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

The Times reported that the technology, used by the agency for several years, relies on radio waves that can be transmitted from tiny circuit boards and USB cards inserted covertly into the computers. The NSA calls the effort an "active defense" and has used the technology to monitor units of China's army, the Russian military, drug cartels, trade institutions inside the European Union, and sometime U.S. partners against terrorism like Saudi Arabia, India and Pakistan, the Times reported.

The NSA says the technology has not been used in computers in the U.S.

miguel de Portugal comments: NSA information gathering activities continues to be in the news while the level of snooping available to anyone goes unmonitored. Allow us to give you just one example of the information available to anyone.

My High School classmates decided that, after nearly 50 years of disconnection with me, they wanted to get in touch again. One of them, with the agreement (and money of the rest) contacted an investigation firm in Manhattan and requested that they find me "dead o alive".

They did track me down and I reconnected with my High School graduating class. The one in charge of the "Find Miguel Project" received the voluminous hard copy of the investigation which was then forwarded to me. I was shocked as to the depth of the information available to anyone who is willing to spend a few dollars.

For example: Places where I resided during the last 40 years. My phone numbers, employer(s), businesses owned,  etc., etc. Names and other details of the individuals who have resided at the same addresses after I left, until the date of the investigation. Details about them and their immediate family. People with whom I have associated. Details about them as well as details about their friends - even if they were not in contact any more. On and on....

When we say "details" - we mean details!

What shocked me was the breadth and depth of the information available - not that they have learned anything "hidden" about my journey for the prior 40 years (if I were going to write an autobiography I would write about more than they found out).

So what is the big issue with the NSA monitoring? It is the proverbial "guy next door" that everyone should be concerned about if he/she has something to hide!

Note: We have kept the investigation report so that, in case I forget some detail of my past I can go back to it and find out the details forgotten!

Belgium: Child Euthanasia Bill passes latest hurdle. (1)

A Judiciary Committee has rejected calls for extra hearings before sending Belgium's Child Euthanasia Bill for a final parliamentary vote. The decision clears the way for it to be passed to the lower house for consideration and a vote sometime before May.

Last week the Senate voted by 50 to 17 that euthanasia should be legal for children suffering from a terminal illness that is causing severe physical pain.

Unlike the Netherlands which allows euthanasia for children over 12, Belgium is set to become the first nation in the world to lift all age restrictions.

While euthanasia for adults was legalised in 2002, extending it to children has met with severe criticism from religious and conservative groups within the country.

miguel de Portugal comments: Can you imagine how such news has been received by God? Can you imagine the "price tag" that such law will have?

One Month After JFK's Murder, Former President Harry Truman Called For Abolishing The CIA. (1)

One month to the day after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, former President Harry Truman recommended that the U.S. abolish the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

In an op-ed column published in the Washington Post on Dec. 22, 1963, Truman never linked the CIA to President Kennedy’s murder, but the timing of the explicit and strongly worded column and complaint implied a connection.

"For some time I have been disturbed by the way the CIA has been diverted from its original assignment," Truman wrote. "It has become an operational and at times a policy-making arm of the Government. This has led to trouble and may have compounded our difficulties in several explosive areas."

Vatican comes under sharp criticism from the U.N. for sex abuse. (1)

The Vatican came under blistering criticism from a U.N. committee Thursday for its handling of the global priest sex abuse scandal, facing its most intense public grilling to date over allegations that it protected pedophile priests at the expense of victims.

The Vatican insisted it had little jurisdiction to sanction pedophile priests around the globe, saying it was for local law enforcement to do so. But officials conceded that more needs to be done and promised to build on progress already made to become a model for others, given the scale of the problem and the role the Holy See plays in the international community.

"The Holy See gets it," Monsignor Charles Scicluna, the Vatican's former sex crimes prosecutor, told the committee. "Let's not say too late or not. But there are certain things that need to be done differently."

He was responding to a grilling by the U.N. committee over the Holy See's failure to abide by terms of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child which, among other things, calls for signatories to take all appropriate measures to keep children from harm. Critics allege the church enabled the rape of thousands of children by encouraging a culture of cover-up to defend its reputation.

The Vatican has said it is cutting the costs of sainthood applications, which can reportedly spiral up to a million dollars (735,000 euros), in a move that could boost candidatures from the developing world.

Cardinal Angelo Amato, who heads up the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, was quoted by the Vatican's official Osservatore Romano daily on Wednesday as saying the change is aimed at removing "inequality".

Applications for sainthood can take years and costs include legal fees and travel bills for medical experts from around the world who are often called on to verify supposed medical miracles attributed to would-be saints.

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis was cited by the Huffington Post as saying the price of canonisation campaigns range between $250,000 and $1 million -- with a lot of money coming from ordinary parishioners.

The price-tag means bids for candidates from the developing world have until now had less chance of success but the Vatican is now introducing a "fixed tariff" aimed at cutting costs, Osservatore Romano said.

Amato said he was also encouraging private donations to help finance the Vatican's investigations into applications in cases where the applicant's cause lacks wealthy allies who can sponsor the process.

miguel de Portugal comments: It seems to me that the first miracle required to start a canonization process should be the flow of funds intended for that purpose without asking for them. Just as God required that I carry on with the mission that He had entrusted me.

This change within the Church, of course, points to the fact that many, if not most, "sainthoods" were purchased.

Air Force: 34 missile officers in cheating scandal. (1)

Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James says 34 missile launch officers have been implicated in a cheating scandal and three others have been implicated in a drug probe, the latest missteps by those who maintain and operate the nation's 450 nuclear missiles.

In all, the drug scandal encompasses 11 Air Force officers across six bases. Of the three missile launch officers involved in the drug scandal, two are at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota and one is at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.

James said those involved in the cheating scandal have lost their certification and nearly 200 missile crew members will retake the test.

The CIA keeps the drone program. (1)

Congress' $1.1 trillion spending bill contains a secret provision torpedoing President Obama's plans to pass the drone program from the CIA to the Pentagon.

In a classified annex, the bill specifically prohibits any funds being used to facilitate such a transfer, the Washington Post reports.

Obama wants to shift the CIA from its paramilitary footing back to an intelligence one, and perhaps bring greater transparency to the drone program. But lawmakers don't trust the military with the keys.

Intelligence Committee Chair Dianne Feinstein last year said she'd "really have to be convinced" that the military could exercise as much "patience and discretion" as the CIA in avoiding civilian casualties, statements she says she stands behind.

As we recall, it was the CIA who mistakenly selected as a target the People's Republic of China's Embassy in Belgrade... which was dutifully bombed. (2)

Does the CIA link of Amazon's Bezos compromise Washington Post?

Norman Solomon, a "progressive" columnist whose own organization is pursuing a "fresh approach" in contrast to "a far-right Republican Party that is a wholly owned subsidiary of corporate America," is petitioning the Washington Post to publicize its owners' financial investments each time it reports on the CIA.

That's because the owner of the Post, Jeff Bezos, includes among his other corporate assets a significant interest in Amazon, which recently got a $600 million contract essentially to provide computer storage for the CIA.

The contract puts Bezos' two entities at cross-purposes: The Post is supposed to expose CIA secrets. Amazon is under contract to keep them.

The situation is unprecedented.

"Both Amazon and the CIA enjoy digital prowess at collecting global data and keeping secrets, and the two institutions have only just begun to explore how to work together more effectively," Norman Solomon wrote.

House bill cuts $200 million from DHS headquarters project. (1)

Wednesday the House approved a spending measure which would reduce funding for a new DHS headquarters in Southeast Washington by about $200 million relative to the funds requested by the agencies overseeing that project for 2014.

DHS, created in 2003, is the third largest government department, and it operates out of fifty different facilities located in Washington, D.C. and neighboring states.

In 2008 Congress approved the establishment of a single DHS campus on the grounds of St. Elizabeth's, a former government-run mental hospital in Anacostia. The project has been hobbled by delays and cost overruns.

miguel de Portugal comments: A campus for DHS on the grounds of a former government run mental hospital? And who says that Heaven does not have a sense of humor?

Seriously - they should consolidate their operations in one campus as soon as possible. Their current operational state - out of fifty facilities - only contributes to disorder, poor results and more expenses.

Russian President Putin links gays to pedophiles. (1)

Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered new assurances to gay athletes and fans attending the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics next month. Yet he defended Russia's anti-gay law by equating gays with pedophiles and said Russia needs to "cleanse" itself of homosexuality if it wants to increase its birth rate.

Making another favorite argument against homosexuality, Putin noted with pride that Russia saw more births than deaths last year for the first time in two decades. Population growth is vital for Russia's development and "anything that gets in the way of that we should clean up," he said, using a word usually reserved for military operations.

miguel de Portugal comments: It seems that Mr. Putin has gone overboard - way overboard.

Speaking about the general population (and not about a specific groups like the priesthood): Homosexuality cannot be equated with pedophilia.

Regarding population growth.... artificial birth control and practically "drive through window" abortions are the real reasons for population reduction.  When sex becomes a sport - as it has in most of the Christian World (east and West),  there goes the population growth.

I think that Mr. Putin needs to reread our document about homosexuality (2).

Benedict XVI defrocked 400 priests in 2 years, per Vatican document obtained by AP. (1)

A document obtained by The Associated Press shows Pope Benedict XVI defrocked nearly 400 priests over just two years for molesting children.

The statistics for 2011-12 represent the first time that the Vatican has provided details on the number of priests who have been defrocked. Prior to that, it had only revealed the number of alleged cases of sexual abuse it had received.

The document was prepared from data the Vatican had been collecting to help the Holy See defend itself before a U.N. committee this week in Geneva.

Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, the Vatican's U.N. ambassador in Geneva, referred to just one of the statistics in the course of eight hours of oftentimes pointed criticism and questioning from the U.N. human rights committee. The AP obtained the document Friday.

miguel de Portugal comments: Think of this.... Assuming that is true - considering the source - why was such statistics not revealed to the press before? It would have certainly silenced those who claimed that Rome was doing nothing about the problem.

The answer is quite simple: Statistically speaking that is a very, very large number considering that those were the ones defrocked, while the ones accused, but not defrocked for technical reasons, must have been many times over. Therefore, the Administration preferred to "play dumb" and be accused of doing nothing that to admit that the problem is far greater than the public would guess if they "played dumb".

Frankly, as far as we are concerned, they could as well defrocked 4,000 priests and meant little as long as the pedophile-shufflers within the Hierarchy remain untouched.

Pedophile priests are sick individuals and need treatment, including removing them from the temptation. However, pedo-shuffling Hierarchy are criminals and should be placed where criminals go in our society - to jail!

Aborting the females! (1)

Ethnic minorities and others in the United Kingdom have reportedly performed thousands of illegal abortions on female fetuses after learning their babies' gender through ultrasound.

For hundreds of thousands of married couples in Britain whose families hail from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and elsewhere, infant sons are prized, while baby girls are often viewed as a curse and a financial burden. As a result, a study of data from the 2011 National Census by the Independent newspaper revealed that gender-based abortions have affected the sex ratio of certain minority communities in England and Wales.

In response to the Independent's findings, the Department of Health said it will investigate the disturbing practice. According to the paper's report, somewhere between 1,400 and 4,700 infant girls seem to have "disappeared" as a result of couples choosing to abort female fetuses.

Abortion based on “sex selection is against the law.

Sex abuse files on 30 Chicago priests going public. (1)

Thousands of pages of documents showing how the Archdiocese of Chicago handled the sexual abuse of children by priests will be made public Tuesday (Jan. 21st), providing the broadest look yet into the details of what the church knew and did - or didn't do - about the scandal.

The archdiocese, one of the largest and most influential in the U.S., handed over last week more than 6,000 pages of documents to victims' attorneys, who said they will show the archdiocese concealed abuse for decades, including moving priests to new parishes where they molested again.

Chicago officials said most of the abuse occurred before 1988 and none after 1996.

Cardinal Francis George, who has led the archdiocese since 1997, released a letter to parishioners on Jan. 12 in which he apologized for the abuse and said releasing the records "raises transparency to a new level."

Many of the accused priests are dead, and the documents will include only 30 of 65 priests for whom the archdiocese says it has credible allegations of abuse.

Italy police re-arrest Vatican monsignor. (1)

A Vatican monsignor already on trial for allegedly plotting to smuggle 20 million euros ($26 million) from Switzerland to Italy was ordered arrested in a separate case on Tuesday for allegedly using his Vatican bank accounts to launder money.

The financial police in the southern city of Salerno said Monsignor Nunzio Scarano's accounts had been used to transfer millions of euros (dollars) in fictitious donations from offshore companies. Police said millions have been seized and that other arrest warrants were issued.

Scarano's initial arrest in the smuggling case was reduced to house arrest because of his ailing health. Sica said the new arrest warrant would be served under house arrest.

Defense Industry Ponders Where It Goes From Here. (1)

The Pentagon was declared the big winner of the massive federal budget bill that Congress passed for fiscal year 2014.

Weapons manufacturers are not celebrating, though. An immediate reprieve from steep cuts is good news but there is still considerable anxiety among CEOs about their companies' future. Industry sees long-term decline, global trends that could upend the arms business, and a Pentagon customer that is becoming consumed by internal budget battles and is reluctant to commit to big-ticket programs.

Defense industry soon has to “develop creative strategies and business models or risk catastrophic failure,” said Ben FitzGerald, senior fellow and director of the technology and national security program at the Center for a New American Security. CNAS just launched a six-month study that will probe the future of defense industry through 2030.

War Crimes Experts Call Syrian Defector's Photographs 'Direct Evidence' of Assad's 'Killing Machine'. (1)

Thousands of post-mortem photographs of scarred, emaciated corpses, provided to the Syrian opposition by a man who describes himself as a defector from the security forces of President Bashar al-Assad, appear to offer “direct evidence” of torture and execution on a mass scale, a team of legal and forensic experts concluded in a report made public on Monday.

The experts reported that the 26,948 images, smuggled out of Syria by a man who says he was a crime-scene photographer for the military police, appeared to be evidence of the killing of as many as 11,000 prisoners, provided by "a truthful and credible witness."

Assad bolsters al-Qaeda affiliates in Syria with secret oil deals, prisoner release. (2)

Western intelligence agencies say that President Bashar al-Assad's regime, in a complex double game, has provided funds to and cooperated with al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organizations in Syria even as these organizations fight the Syrian military. The regime has two goals in pursuing this policy.

The first is to persuade the West that the uprising is inspired and led by Islamist militants, including al-Qaeda and its affiliates, in order to weaken, and even stop, Western support for the rebels.

The second is to allow the jihadists to gain the upper hand in the internal fighting among rebel groups. The regime believes that if the rebellion is seen to be led by Islamist fundamentalists rather than secular and moderate Syrians, more non-Alawite Syrians would side with the regime against the rebels, even if grudgingly.

Why does the Syrian carnage continues unchecked? Because of what we report in News Report No. 1 and what you will read below...

TV audiences often do not care about suffering in other countries. (3)

Television audiences care less about suffering experienced by people in other countries when they watch the news than when they watch a range of different programs, according to new research.

New research finds that study participants were in many cases indifferent to what they saw and relieved that it did not affect them, especially the younger and male viewers. There were instances, however, mostly among older and female participants, of particularly emotional responses to suffering.

miguel de Portugal comments: Now then, can everyone better understand why God is allowing misery upon misery upon the Western Power's World as we march towards the Chastisement?

In case further clarification is needed: It is because Pain is the ONLY megaphone that help the deaf hear and respond as God expects Him to.... therefore, the pain will increase exponentially until its climax - the Chastisement.

We do not "make the future", we only announce it as demanded by the Mercy of God.

New Patent Shows Plans To Ship Products Before Customers Purchase Them. (1)

For some people, having an item shipped to the doorstep a whole day after they spent a few minutes searching for it online and clicking “checkout” just isn’t convenient enough. Amazon.com Inc. , the largest online retailer, may have the answer with a new patent for “anticipatory shipping” that will send products before a user even purchases them.

If successful, anticipatory shipping could eliminate one of the few remaining advantages that brick-and-mortar shops have over Amazon.

Using the massive amount of customer data it collects from searches, purchases, wish lists and even how long a customer hovers over an item with a mouse, Amazon will predict which products will be popular in different areas. The Seattle-based company will then package and ship those items to its hubs in those areas. According to The Verge, Amazon could even load products onto trucks and ship them to a physical address without having an actual addressee.

miguel de Portugal comments: We recently mentioned the fact the Google would love to have half of the "super able" algorithms that Amazon has. The above news report confirms it.

We have "decoded" their algorithms enough that we now know how to "bargain" with their computer banks so that the lower the price of a product.

Recently we caught them with the hand in the proverbial cookie jar. Since we do not offer any ratings or comments for any of the documentaries that we acquire from them, they came up with a Plan B. They send a survey so that we rate their packaging. Their packaging!!

Upon reading their "conditions" we found out that Amazon are then free to use our rating - which is connected to a specific product purchase - to our name and use it as they wish.

And people worry about NSA! The poor fools!

Lightning strikes Rio’s iconic Christ statue. (1)

Lightning strikes on Rio de Janeiro's famous 'Christ the Redeemer' statue have damaged the iconic figure's head and right hand.

Although nothing too serious, some locals believe the bolts were nature's answer to the growing problem of pollution.

Others were unconvinced, such as Rodrigo Carvalho who was visiting the statue:

"It was a natural event that happened. It's physics – I see it just as physics. The Christ statue is very high up and it's an attraction and during a very intense electrical storm the Christ ended up getting hit. I don't think there is anything strange about it or that it was supernatural."

Repairs will get underway next month but engineers say they will add more lightning rods to prevent any further strikes - whether or not they are messages from Mother Nature.

miguel de Portugal comments: More lightning rods (LRs)? It already had LRs and it still got hit? If that is "normal", it must indeed be highly unusual.

Chinese Internet Traffic Redirected to Small Wyoming House. (1)

In one of the more bizarre twists in recent Internet memory, much of the Internet traffic in China was redirected to a small, 1,700-square-foot house in Cheyenne, Wyo., on Tuesday.

The China Internet Network Information Center, a state-run agency that deals with Internet affairs, said it had traced the problem to the country's domain name system. ....the problems affected roughly three-quarters of the country's domain name system servers.

Those servers, which act as a switchboard for Internet traffic behind China's Great Firewall, routed traffic from some of China's most popular sites, including Baidu and Sina, to a block of Internet addresses registered to Sophidea Incorporated, a mysterious company housed on a residential street in Cheyenne, Wyo.

A simple Google search reveals that the address on Thomes Avenue in Cheyenne is not a corporate headquarters, but a 1,700-square-foot brick house with a manicured lawn.

That address - which is home to some 2,000 companies on paper - was the subject of a lengthy 2011 Reuters investigation that found that among the entities registered to the address were a shell company controlled by a jailed former Ukraine prime minister; the owner of a company charged with helping online poker operators evade an Internet gambling ban; and one entity that was banned from government contracts after selling counterfeit truck parts to the Pentagon.

miguel de Portugal comments: The point that we want to highlight is the company fronts and their activities. How many of those addresses do we have in the US and what kind of businesses do they hide.

Security check contractor defrauded U.S. of millions of dollars. (1)

The Department of Justice said Wednesday that U.S. Investigations Services (USIS), the company which conducted the background checks on Edward Snowden and Aaron Alexis, has defrauded the government of millions of dollars.

The government charges that between 2008 and 2012, 650,000 background investigations – about 40 percent of the company's investigations in that period – were submitted to the government as having been completed although, in fact, they were not.

Several former and current USIS employees said the company had an incentive to rush background check work because it was paid only after a file... is for fieldwork finished, and sent to the government. Two senior managers said that toward the end of the month, investigations were closed in order to meet financial quotas, without a required review by the quality control department.

Pope wants to visit U.S. in 2015. (1)

Pope Francis has expressed his intention to visit the United States next year for a major meeting of the Roman Catholic Church,....

The pope would attend the eighth World Meeting of Families, which has been held every three years since the late Pope John Paul II convened the first such gathering in 1994.

The Vatican announced in February that the meeting will be held September 22-27, 2015, in Philadelphia.

"The World Meeting of Families has traditionally been attended by the Holy Father," Kenneth Gavin, a spokesman for the Philadelphia Archdiocese, said in a statement. "We are planning as if Pope Francis will be with us and have no indication that he will not attend. It is important to note that reports circulating widely today regarding the Holy Father's presence are not official."

The M+G+R Foundation comments: Let us look at some key dates for the calendar year 2015:

A total solar eclipse will occur on the 19th-20th (2) of March 2015. The eclipse takes place on the Jewish New Year which is 1st of Nissan of the Jewish Calendar.

The Jewish New Year solar eclipse will be followed only one month later by the Jewish Passover lunar eclipse when the Moon will appear as Red Blood on April 3rd-4th (2), 2015.

Easter Sunday is the day after Passover (as it was in Jesus time): April 4th-5th, 2015

Sept. 22nd-23rd (2), 2015 Yom Kippur - Feast of Atonement  and Conception of John the Baptist

Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) is one of two Jewish High Holy Days. The first High Holy Day is Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year). Yom Kippur falls ten days after Rosh Hashanah on the 10th of Tishrei, which is a Hebrew month that correlates with September-October on the secular calendar. The purpose of Yom Kippur is to bring about reconciliation between people and between individuals and God. According to Jewish tradition, it is also the day when God decides the fate of each human being.

Sept. 27th-28th (2), 2015 Feast Of the Tabernacles (Sukkot) and Blood Moon Eclipse

Sukkot is the 15th day of the month of Tishrei, the first month of the Jewish calendar. It is one of the three biblically mandated festivals.... on which Hebrews were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. It follows the solemn holiday of Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement.

Since this a private post.... for those who do not know: March 19, 2015, the Feast of St. Joseph, marks the 30th Anniversary of miguel de Portugal's conversion and his birthday is on September 23rd, the Feast of the Conception of John the Baptist.

HSBC imposes restrictions on large cash withdrawals.  (1)

HSBC customers requiring large cash withdrawals may be asked what they want the money. Some HSBC customers have been prevented from withdrawing large amounts of cash because they could not provide evidence of why they wanted it, the BBC has learnt.

Listeners have told Radio 4's Money Box they were stopped from withdrawing amounts ranging from £5,000 to £10,000.

HSBC admitted it has not informed customers of the change in policy, which was implemented in November. The bank says it has now changed its guidance to staff.

Stephen Cotton went to his local HSBC branch this month to withdraw £7,000 from his instant access savings account to pay back a loan from his mother. A year before, he had withdrawn a larger sum in cash from HSBC without a problem.

But this time it was different, as he told Money Box: "When we presented them with the withdrawal slip, they declined to give us the money because we could not provide them with a satisfactory explanation for what the money was for. They wanted a letter from the person involved."

Mr Cotton says the staff refused to tell him how much he could have: "So I wrote out a few slips. I said, 'Can I have £5,000?' They said no. I said, 'Can I have £4,000?' They said no. And then I wrote one out for £3,000 and they said, 'OK, we'll give you that.' "

He asked if he could return later that day to withdraw another £3,000, but he was told he could not do the same thing twice in one day.

miguel de Portugal comments: What can I say? I told you so? All will only get worse and never will it get better until after the Chastisement.

Mrs. LM @ US recently wrote:

Hello from Frigid Ohio

Are we in a Chastisement or the Pain Megaphone? This unseasonably really cold weather, over an extended time, has my attention.  Can you give us any insight?

The weather and geophysical anomalies the world has been experiencing in the last several years are God's last attempts to help those who have Eyes to See and Ears to Hear pay attention.

Regarding the Chastisement, as we have pointed out many times in the past, it can be summed up with the following statement from our heavenly Mother at Akita (2):

"....if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity...  Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful.  The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead..."...

Since men have no repented and have actually gotten worse, we should know - without a shred of a doubt - that the Chastisement is at our doors and that many of the survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead...

Alaska is warmer than Lower 48. (1)

The weather seems more than a bit upside down.

The average temperature for the Lower 48 states midmorning Wednesday (Jan 22nd) was a chilly 22 degrees. The average temperature for the entire state of Alaska at the same time was 24 degrees, according to calculations by Weather Bell Analytics meteorologist Ryan Maue.

Parts of Alaska were 30 degrees warmer than normal, southeastern Alaska hit 57 earlier in the week and the forecast for the rest of week was more unseasonable warmth, said National Weather Service climate science manager Rick Thoman in Fairbanks.

The jet stream - the river of air that dictates much of America's weather - is meandering again, said Jeff Masters, meteorology director at Weather Underground. So warm air is flowing from near Hawaii north to Alaska and from Canada south to the Lower 48.

So far this month, weather stations in the Lower 48 have broken or tied more than 2,600 records for cold, while Alaskan weather stations have broken or tied more than 20 daily temperature records for warmth. Alaska's relative warmth has shut down ski slopes and caused road problems.

USAF nuclear-missile officers alleged to have regularly cheated on readiness tests. (1)

Three former U.S. Air Force officers have alleged that USAF officers responsible for operating nuclear-armed missiles at Malmstrom Air Base in Montana have, for many years, been cheating on monthly readiness tests, and were never punished for it.

The former officers claim that cheating is the norm and that officers who did otherwise are the exception.

The officers who made the allegations added, though, that misconduct on tests did not impair the safety of the nuclear weapons or the Air Force’s ability to launch missiles if ordered.

miguel de Portugal comments: "The officers who made the allegations added, though, that misconduct on tests did not impair the safety of the nuclear weapons".

What we are trying to figure out is if these "officers" are really that stupid or they think that the general public is so stupid that will believe that!

Amazing, simply amazing!

Edward Snowden Claims NSA Engages In Industrial Espionage In New Interview. (1)

NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden is making new claims about the National Security Agency and its espionage practices. In an interview with German television broadcaster ARD, Snowden says the NSA engages in industrial espionage in addition to spying on the public and foreign governments.

ARD released a statement ahead of the interview airing in German on Sunday night. Snowden does not elaborate on his claims in the footage released by ARD but does say the NSA would obtain information from corporations if it benefited the "national interest" of the United States.

In addition to discussing industrial espionage, Snowden said U.S. officials "want to kill him" following the NSA leaks. The whistleblower cites a Buzzfeed article that features quotes from a Pentagon official saying "“I would love to put a bullet in his head" and calling Snowden "the greatest traitor in American history." Snowden says he is no longer in possession of the NSA documents, having given them to various journalists and publications, and does not control what gets published.

miguel de Portugal comments: Isn't it amazing  that something like Snowden's Blab-It-All Cabaret cannot be stopped but when there is something that "The Masters" want to keep quiet, it is?

[Old] News Report No. 2

A book was published in 1981 written by a man, who when he was 16 years old, marched into Havana with Che Guevara to then welcome Fidel Castro, a few days later, when he triumphantly marched into Havana. He was taken under the wing by Che Guevara and rose as foam does and became part of the State Security even before it had been officially organized and named G-2 (the Cuban equivalent to the Nazi Gestapo and the Soviet KGB).

In terms than today anyone would understand - he had the same level of access to Cuban State secrets as Edward Snowden had to NSA secrets during his employ. The only difference was that Juan Vivés (his pen name)  was present when, what is written in those documents/secrets, was spoken and/or carried out (the reader may shudder now) - many of them by his own KGB like group.

As years went by, the original illusions of that 16 year old boy who started in that journey became shattered - one after the other - until such time when he decided to flee the country/regime after acquiring some "life insurance" in the form of documentation devastating to the Castro myth and storing it in a bank vault in Switzerland. Being that  the Castro regime is sustained primarily on the Castro myth, as well as by terror, if said myth is broken not even the terror would hold the government up.

Juan Vivés (his pen name)  abandoned Cuba in 1979 after having served in the most inner circles of Cuban State Security for twenty years. He fled to France (he must have many Cuban American enemies in the US for his prior deeds) and settled there with his family. Barely a year later he published the book "Les Maitres de Cuba" in France and then "Os Donos de Cuba" in Portugal, a year later [our translation to English is: The Masters of Cuba.]

What makes everything even more interesting is that: (a) Vivés' book was not published in English, when that was the most logical thing to do, (and would have sold whatever number of copies they would have printed); and (b) Its publication in French, Portuguese and Spanish was very limited and kept under the covers, so to speak.

As Mr. Vivés closes Chapter II, p 79, he writes (our translation):

After having spent many years next to the power elite in Cuba, where I was a witness, and many times the key player, during the first 20 years of the Revolution, my most sincere opinion is that Fidel Castro was a KGB agent since 1947. How could Allen Dulles, CIA Director when Castro assumed power, not know about this? What is a fact is that a communist became the head of a government just 90 miles from the US, without the information services of the US seeming to be aware of it.

Anyone who thinks that miguel is "a conspiracy theory fanatic" and reads that book, will never look at the world - past and present - the same again. As a matter of fact, unless said individual is very close to God, he/she would have a difficult time sleeping well again.

Francis on Rolling Stone cover. (1)

Pope Francis - bishop of Rome, sovereign of the Vatican City State, his holiness - has another title to add to his papal resume: Rolling Stone cover subject.

The pope graces the cover of the iconic music magazine this week for "The Times They Are A-Changin': Inside the Pope's gentle revolution," a 7,700-word profile by contributing editor Mark .

Binelli, who went inside the Vatican to report on Francis' swift break from tradition. "In less than a year since his papacy began, Pope Francis has done much to separate himself from past popes and establish himself as a people's pope," Binelli writes.

U.S. Says Russia Tested Missile, Despite Treaty. (1)

The United States informed its NATO allies this month that Russia had tested a new ground-launched cruise missile, raising concerns about Moscow's (lack of) compliance with a landmark arms control accord.

American officials believe Russia began conducting flight tests of the missile as early as 2008. Such tests are prohibited by the treaty banning medium-range missiles that was signed in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan and Mikhail S. Gorbachev, the Soviet leader at the time, and that has long been viewed as one of the bedrock accords that brought an end to the Cold War.

Beginning in May, Rose Gottemoeller, the State Department’s senior arms control official, has repeatedly raised the missile tests with Russian officials,.... But Obama administration officials are not yet ready to formally declare the tests of the missile, which has not been deployed, to be a violation of the 1987 treaty.

miguel de Portugal comments: This brings to mind President Obama's "Red Line" that the Syrian President was not to cross.... and which he crossed, over and over again, (sarcasm on) then colored it yellow, made into a bow and sent it back to us with a note attached which read: "So sue me!" (sarcasm off).

Putin himself acknowledged that they have tactical nuclear missiles in Cuba ready to fly at his command and we are doing what?

As we have said many times: We are against any kind of war; against any kind of violence but.... those who believe in military power as a "tool" should learn how to use it.

Ukrainian president takes sick leave amid crisis. (1)

Ukraine's embattled president is taking sick leave, his office announced Thursday, a surprise development that left unclear how efforts to resolve the country's political crisis would move forward. Protesters have been calling for his resignation for two months.

A statement on the presidential website said the 63-year-old Viktor Yanukovych has an acute respiratory illness and a high fever. There was no indication of how long he might be on leave or whether he would be able to do any work. He was not known to have any previous health issues.

The announcement prompted skeptical reactions and even the suggestion that it was a ruse to take him out of power - as in the attempted coup against Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1991.

"I don't remember official statements on Viktor Yanukovych's colds. But I remember well, when on Aug. 19, 1991, the vice president of the USSR, Gennady Yanayev, announced the serious illness of Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev," political commentator Vitaly Portnikov wrote on his Facebook page.

Gorbachev's purported illness was reported on Aug. 19, 1991, as hardline Communists opposed to his reforms attempted an unsuccessful coup against him and held him under house arrest.

Although the coup failed, it accelerated the collapse of the Soviet Union, which officially was dissolved four months later.

miguel de Portugal comments: That the coup failed? Chuckle!

It only failed in getting and Oscar for their stellar performance because the objective of said ruse was fulfilled.

The objective? Reinvent the face of the original Soviet plan so that people would drop their guard against "the Reds" and they could achieve their dream of world domination with greater ease.

The same story with Bergoglio & Co. - reinvent the face of those who within the Vatican (2) seek their slice of world domination.

No! We have not gone "bonkers". Remember, there is only one conspiracy and its master is satan whose dream is to pass himself as the savior of the world. Now, that might earn him an Oscar because most will fall for it!

Monarch butterflies drop, migration may disappear. (1)

The number of Monarch butterflies wintering in Mexico plunged this year to its lowest level since studies began in 1993, leading experts to announce Wednesday that the insects' annual migration from the United States and Canada is in danger of disappearing.

After steep and steady declines in the previous three years, the black-and-orange butterflies now cover only 1.65 acres (0.67 hectares) in the pine and fir forests west of Mexico City, compared to 2.93 acres (1.19 hectares) last year. They covered more than 44.5 acres (18 hectares) at their recorded peak in 1995. Because the butterflies clump together by the thousands in trees, they are counted by the area they cover.

"The main culprit is now GMO herbicide-resistant corn and soybean crops and herbicides in the USA," which "leads to the wholesale killing of the monarch's principal food plant, common milkweed," Brower wrote in an email.

miguel de Portugal comments: We are sure that the World dealers, I mean, World leaders will do about this other Divine warning through nature as they did with the continuing decline of the tremendously important bee population in the world: Sweep it under the carpet and off the main stream media.
