PURPOSE

The purpose of this News Commentary Section is to assist the faithful in recognizing the signs and lies of These End Times. Somehow, many self appointed Shepherds of These Times are trying to convince the faithful that the Apocalypse will be, using street slang, "a piece of cake" for them and "hell" for all others. They are led to believe that if they "do this" and "do that" they do not have a thing to worry about (of course, so long as that between the "do this" and the "do that" they send in a donation).

Others lead the faithful to believe that "All Is Well" and will continue to be, of course, as long as those donations keep coming in...

Pope says communists are closet Christians. (1)

Pope Francis, whose criticisms of unbridled capitalism have prompted some to label him a Marxist, said in an interview published on Sunday that communists had stolen the flag of Christianity.

The 77-year-old pontiff gave an interview to Il Messaggero, Rome's local newspaper, to mark the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, a Roman holiday.

He was asked about a blog post in the Economist magazine that said he sounded like a Leninist when he criticized capitalism and called for radical economic reform.

"I can only say that the communists have stolen our flag. The flag of the poor is Christian. Poverty is at the center of the Gospel," he said, citing Biblical passages about the need to help the poor, the sick and the needy.

"Communists say that all this is communism. Sure, twenty centuries later. So when they speak, one can say to them: 'but then you are Christian'," he said, laughing.

Since his election in March 2013, Francis has often attacked the global economic system as being insensitive to the poor and not doing enough to share wealth with those who need it most.

Earlier this month, he criticized the wealth made from financial speculation as intolerable and said speculation on commodities was a scandal that compromised the poor's access to food.

miguel de Portugal comments: What the world knows as communism has nothing to do with the poverty our Lord Jesus Christ spoke about.

To compare the Marxis-Leninist communism with Christianity is an abomination and an outrageous heresy; but, then again, why should we be surprised that the Jesuit Jorge Bergoglio - dressed as a Pope - espouses such beliefs.

Mary, through La Salette warned the world about communism:

"In the year 1864, Lucifer together with a large number of demons will be unloosed from hell;..." (2)

Karl Marx's political isolation ended in 1864 with the founding of the International Working Men's Association. Although he was neither its founder nor its head, he soon became its leading spirit.

Its first public meeting, called by English trade union leaders and French workers' representatives, took place at St. Martin's Hall in London on Sept. 28, 1864.

Marx, who had been invited through a French intermediary to attend as a representative of the German workers, sat silently on the platform. A committee was set up to produce a program and a constitution for the new organization.

After various drafts had been submitted that were felt to be unsatisfactory, Marx, serving on a subcommittee, drew upon his immense journalistic experience. His "Address and the Provisional Rules of the International Working Men's Association," unlike his other writings, stressed the positive achievements of the cooperative movement and of parliamentary legislation; the gradual conquest of political power would enable the British proletariat to extend these achievements on a national scale and communism was born.  The rest is history, which is yet to reach its final Chapter.

Mary, through Fatima warned the world about communism:

"To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, [promoting (e)] wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated[; in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.  (3)

Exactly what else does the world need to see and hear to understand who and what does Bergoglio represents?

Facial Features of Old World Monkey's Evolved to Prevent Interbreeding. (1)

Researchers have determined that monkey populations and species living in close proximity to each other look so different in order to "strengthen reproductive isolation between populations."

Facial features of Old World monkeys evolved to separate themselves from other geographically proximate species to prevent crossbreeding.

"Evolution produces adaptations that help animals thrive in a particular environment, and over time these adaptations lead to the evolution of new species," said study author James Higham, an assistant professor in New York University's Department of Anthropology, according to a press release issued by the university. "A key question is what mechanisms keep closely related species that overlap geographically from inter-breeding, so that they are maintained as separate species?"

Researchers from NYU and Exeter University, in the United Kingdom, figured out that that the answer to Higham's question is precise facial feature differentiation. Features include colorful eyebrow patches, ear tufts, various face markings, nose spots, mouth patches, and more.

"These results strongly suggest that the extraordinary appearance of these monkeys has been due to selection for visual signals that discourage hybridization," said lead author William Allen, who has since left NYU's Department of Anthropology for the University of Hull in England, according to the release. "This is perhaps the strongest evidence to date for a role for visual signals in the key evolutionary processes by which species are formed and maintained, and it is particularly exciting that we have found it in part of our own lineage."

miguel de Portugal comments:
Considering that, without doubt, God is the Master and Director of the evolutionary process..... could the results of the above referred research suggest that there should not be interracial mingling amongst humans?

Notice - we are not suggesting that one race is better (or superior) than other - we are strictly addressing the interracial mingling.

This has caught my attention in a very personal way since I have always "felt" that there should not be interracial mingling, always excluding superiority of one over the other as the reason. A feeling that I could never understand since I have always intermingled socially and professionally with members with other races on an equal footing.

Syrian Electronic Army's attack on Reuters makes a mockery of cyber-security (again) (1)

One big security issue that has arisen lately concerns control of news media.

Tricking users into entering their details may be simple, but it can be very serious. For example the Reuters site, which was attacked by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA), a pro-Assad group of "hacktivists," integrates more than thirty third-party/advertising network agencies into its content.

A breach on any of these could compromise the agency's whole infrastructure.

At midday on Sunday, people reading Reuters content found themselves redirected to a page which stated... ( blah, blah, blah)

Instead of targeting the agency's site, the hack attacked the news content that it hosts on the sites of a large number of media outlets.

This is not the first time the SEA had attacked in a way that compromised the trusted partners of the major media outlets. It did something similar to the New York Times last August.

In this most recent case, the SEA appears to have redirected viewers to the bogus pages by compromising advertising hosted by a Reuters partner site called Taboola. This could have serious consequences for Taboola's other clients, who include Yahoo!, BBC Worldwide and Fox News; and will generally be great worry to many sites.

Oklahoma congressman denied access to facility housing illegal immigrant children. (1)

A Republican congressman from Oklahoma says he was denied access to a federal facility at Fort Sill that is housing hundreds of mostly teenage illegal immigrant children from Central America.

Freshman U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine of Tulsa says he was visiting the Army post on Tuesday when he approached the facility and was told by security that he was not allowed to enter.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is overseeing the children's care, and Bridenstine says an agency official told him he could schedule a visit in three weeks. Bridenstine says there is "no excuse" for denying him access to the facility.

A spokesman for HHS didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Gov. Mary Fallin and U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe toured the facility two weeks ago.

Belgian doctors euthanaise deaf and blind twins. (1)

The debate over euthanasia has erupted once again in Belgium following the death by lethal injection of two twin brothers who were deaf from birth and now were going blind.

The pair who had lived and worked together all their lives had requested to be put to sleep after being unable to bear not to see and hear each other.

The 45-year-olds were given lethal injections at a hospital in Brussels last month after having a cup of coffee together and saying their goodbyes.

But the case has tested the boundaries of Belgium's law on assisted suicide which was legalised in 2002.

In 2011, more than 1,100 people were granted the right to die. Almost all were above 60 years old and most had cancer.

Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland have decriminalised euthanasia.

Monica Lewinksy: "I Was A Virgin To Humiliation". (1)

Monica Lewinksy gives her first television interview since 2003 on National Geographic's "The 90's: The Last Great Decade?", which is set to air July 6 at 9pm EST.

'TODAY' debuted exclusive clips from the upcoming show in which Monica talks about the impact of Kennth Starr's report, “That was one of the worst days of my life. I was a virgin to humiliation of that level, until that day" she added "To have my narrative ripped from me, and turned into the Starr report, and things that were turned over or things they delved out of my computer that I thought were deleted. I mean it was just violation after violation."

She goes on to explain the role the media played in that heartbreaking time in her life, “To be called stupid, and a slut, and a bimbo, and ditzy, and to be taken out of context, it was excruciating" adding, "To be in the vortex of this media maelstrom was quite alarming, and frightening. And confusing. I think a lot, too, had to do with the fact that I was a woman."

miguel de Portugal comments: Although we feel sorry for her, she is complaining about everything she brought upon herself. If that were not enough, she brings up the "virgin" qualifier, a qualifier that, of all people, she should not bring up even when speaking about a type of olive oil.

Tibetans' Genetic Edge Didn't Come From Homo Sapiens. (1)

Tibetans are largely unique among humans for their ability to live comfortably at high altitudes. The Tibetan Plateau, nicknamed the "roof of the world," stands an average of 15,000 feet above sea level. That's just shy of 3 miles - making it the highest plateau on the planet and an area whose air contains roughly 40% less oxygen.

But Tibetans don't seem to have adapted over the millennia, nor is a genetic mutation responsible for their ability: Researchers have discovered they share a gene with our hominid cousin the Denisovans, who went extinct some 40,000 years ago; their study was published in Nature yesterday. (1)

Known as EPAS1, the gene allows Tibetans to absorb scarce oxygen without creating extra red blood cells - something the rest of us mortals must deal with at altitude, and which can lead to dangerously high blood pressure, cardiac arrest, and lower birth-weight babies, reports NPR.

The study's lead author tells Time the findings prompt an even larger question: "We found the Denisovan species at the DNA level, but how many other species are out there that we haven’t sequenced?

miguel de Portugal comments: Pardon me but..... with the world having more refugees than during World War II, thus concretely indicating that its system is falling apart everywhere; a world which has gone from being immoral to being amoral; a world where corruption has become a way of life.... who really cares why Tibetan can breath at the Tibetan Plateau or how many other species "are out there that they have not sequenced"?

Considering that our species is going to be almost annihilated from the face of the planet in not a too distant future, we are not impressed with such findings. Well, actually we are, but for the wrong reasons: Human stupidity seem to have surpassed the Tibetan Plateau level!

Virus Plagues the Pork Industry, and Environmentalists - The bodies are piling up fast. (1)

A deadly virus, porcine epidemic diarrhea, or PEDv, is estimated to have killed, on average, more than 100,000 piglets and young hogs each week since it first showed up in Iowa in May 2013, wreaking havoc on the pork industry.

"I've been a vet since 1981, and there is no precedent for this," said Paul Sundberg, vice president for science and technology at the National Pork Board. "It is devastatingly virulent."

The fatality numbers are so staggering that environmentalists have grown worried about the effects of state laws requiring the burial of so many carcasses, and what that will do to the groundwater.

miguel de Portugal comments:
First of all, why did  they have this health catastrophe so well silenced?

100,000 pigs each week since May 2013 works out to be 5.2 million pigs/piglets in one year without no let up in sight.... and that is major!

Second of all, why aren't these carcasses being burned instead of burying them? In doing so they are aiding the spread of the virus.

This is another example of what we are trying to drive to our readership: Do not expect to be sent an advance notice before you "get hit" with whatever - the choices of "whatevers" are multiplying every day.

Just as with the issue of the dying bees. The bees keep on dying and the unresolved problem has been neatly swept under the media carpet while the consequences to humanity have not be mitigated.

The list is practically endless, yet all we see in the world is a virtual "sea of human bottoms" sprouting from the ground since said human's heads are securely stuck in the proverbial sand!

But read on....

Can pigs save us? Is this the beginning of animal to human transplants? Or even human-pig hybrids? (1)

It seems like this scenario may well be the case as a result of a recent scientific breakthrough.

According to an article in the Telegraph in the U.K.,scientists in Melbourne, Australia used a ventilator and pump to the animal lungs to keep them breathing while human blood flowed through them. And this system worked exactly like lungs do by sending blood without oxygen into the lungs which came out as blood with oxygen.

Presumably, this process might help humans who have lost the use of their lungs and need a some help from our animal friends.

The scientists considered this procedure a significant breakthrough after experimenting with combining pig lungs and human blood for 20 years. But repeatedly, they encountered failure because blood clots formed almost immediately which blocked the further flow of blood.

So about two years ago, the experiments ended. So what made the pig-human breakthrough for breathing possible?

Well, that's the part that brings up all kinds of ethical issues. The scientists added human DNA to the pigs as they grew up, which reduced the clotting and the rejection of lungs by the human host.

miguel de Portugal comments: Why should we be surprised if porcine epidemic diarrhea, or PEDv, would infect humans tomorrow? Or has already happened?

Sarkozy, Plagued by Accusations, Sees Left-Wing Plot to Destroy Him. (1)

Nicolas Sarkozy, the former president of France who suffered the unprecedented indignity last week of being hauled before an investigative panel for 15 hours of questioning, has angrily denounced the inquiry and cast himself as the victim of a vast left-wing plot to destroy him.

"There are things that are being organized," Mr. Sarkozy, a conservative who was France's head of state from 2007 to 2012, hinted darkly. He called the allegations against him "preposterous."

Does he have a case?

miguel de Portugal comments: Considering the fact that I have never liked Mr. Sarkozy (as a matter of fact, it is more accurate to say: I have always disliked Mr. Sarkozy) we must come to his defense. That is what justice is all about.

Allow us to connect just three dots and you will see the full picture.

Mr. Dominique Strauss-Khan, the high profile head of the IMF and most likely the future president of France at the time, was ensnared in such an obvious way that it was incredible that anyone would fall for it. Yet, he was politically destroyed. I do not think that he could even run for local dog catcher now and win.

Mr. Silvio Berlusconi - a typical and traditional political scoundrel but who does not pretend to be a saint - claimed that he was being conspired against to get him out of Italian politics once and for all. Everyone laughed him off until Mr. Geithner's book - Stress Test - came out wherein he confirmed that indeed there was a European plot to get Berlusconi out of politics once and for all. Mr. Berlusconi, book in hand, took to the airwaves on a "I told you so!" crusade.

The interesting thing is that, being Mr. Berlusconi the biggest controller, by ownership, of the Italian media, in about three days one did not hear any more about the fact that the conspiracy against Berlusconi was indeed true.

Are you getting the picture? Not even the rightful owners of the media control the media.

Now, it is Sarkozy turn. Does he have a case? Of course he does, but he doesn't have a prayer. They will crucify him. As a political player he is done.

Of course, the logical question now is: Who is next? Mrs. Merckel? Of course, if she isn't next, then she is part of the conspiracy!

Scientists Find Intersex Fish in Three Major US Rivers. (1)

Authorities in US found intersex fish sometime back which has made officials in Pennsylvania to start exclusive sampling of chemical contaminants. According to the researchers of US Geological Department, "We found few male intersex fishes carrying eggs in three different rivers Susquehanna, Ohio river basins, and Delaware. It has opened the doors for possibilities that water in that area might be polluted with chemicals."

In the series of statements and reports, a spokeswoman of Department of Environmental Protection, Amanda Witman said, "We have started our investigations in this matter and our first target is to test the samples of Juniata River and Swatara Creek; two tributaries of the Susquehanna River."

These species showed intersex characteristics and the main reason behind it was their exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals, said the one of the researchers. Please note that these hormone-mimicking chemicals made it possible for male fish to produce eggs.

These estrogenic chemicals affect endocrine system which regulates hormones like testosterone and estrogen. Please note that these hormones are the main source behind fish's ability to reproduce. According to reports, this is not the first time when intersex fish has been found in US.

miguel de Portugal comments: (sarcasm on) Instead of taking the appropriate action to prevent estrogenic chemicals from reaching all our water supplies, the appropriate agency will appoint a committee to add a new sexual orientation label to the already long list - Intersex - and establish how the intersex members of society should be addressed and if they should be granted maternity leaves with pay.

Logically, a new float will be designed for the members of the intersex community to use in next years' Gay Pride Parade. (sarcasm off)

Note: The sarcasm is directed to the endemic disorientation of the authorities regarding national priorities and not in reference to sexual orientation.

Pope to sex abuse victims: I beg your forgiveness. (1)

Pope Francis told victims of sexual abuse by Roman Catholic clerics the church should "weep and make reparation" for crimes he said had taken on the dimensions of a sacrilegious cult.

"For some time now I have felt in my heart deep pain and suffering," he said in his strongest comments yet on the crimes, delivered at a Mass with adult victims. "So much time hidden, camouflaged with a complicity that cannot be explained until someone realized that Jesus was looking." .

"I ask for the grace to weep, the grace for the Church to weep and make reparation for her sons and daughters who betrayed their mission, who abused innocent persons," he said, according to a Vatican transcript.

"Before God and his people I express my sorrow for the sins and grave crimes of clerical sexual abuse committed against you. And I humbly ask forgiveness," he said.

EU's united front on Russia falling amid gas needs. (1)

A clutch of countries is breaking ranks with the EU's efforts to put economic and diplomatic pressure on Russia over Ukraine and building a pipeline meant to carry huge amounts of Russian gas to their doorstep.

"Developments in Ukraine and Russia have demonstrated that the EU's priority is to diversify its energy sources," says spokeswoman Sabine Berger of the EU Energy Commissioner's office.

But Austria, Hungary, and Serbia - the first two EU members, the third a candidate to join - have said they will build their sections of the project and others may follow, to the displeasure of the EU and United States.

In the wake of Austria's decision last month, Washington urged it to "consider carefully" whether that contributed to "discouraging further Russian aggression."

European reaction has been generally muted. Many countries in central and eastern Europe already get much of their gas from Russia, making them ill-placed to criticize South Stream. Those further west, like France, have seen their lucrative business relations with Russia untouched by sanctions against Moscow.

Soviet defector's trove of KGB secrets made public. (1)

The papers spent years hidden in a milk churn beneath a Russian dacha and read like an encyclopedia of Cold War espionage.

Original documents from one of the biggest intelligence leaks in history - a who's who of Soviet spying - were released Monday after being held in secret for two decades.

The files smuggled out of Russia in 1992 by senior KGB official Vasili Mitrokhin describe sabotage plots, booby-trapped weapons caches and armies of agents under cover in the West - the real-life inspiration for the fictional Soviet moles in "The Americans" TV series.

Intelligence historian Christopher Andrew said the vast dossier, released by the Churchill Archives Centre at Cambridge University, was considered "the most important single intelligence source ever" by British and American authorities.

Mitrokhin was a senior archivist at the KGB's foreign intelligence headquarters - and a secret dissident. For more than a decade he secretly took files home, copied them in longhand and then typed and collated them into volumes. He hid the papers at his country cottage, or dacha, some stuffed into a milk churn and buried.

After the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union, Mitrokhin traveled to a Baltic state - which one has never been confirmed - and took a sample of his files to the U.S. Embassy, only to be turned away. So he tried the British embassy, where a junior diplomat sat him down and asked, "Would you like a cup of tea?"

"That was the sentence that changed his life," said Andrew.

miguel de Portugal comments: There are two key items in the above news report that we want to comment upon.

One: Mitrokhin took a sample of his files to the U.S. Embassy, only to be turned away.

Comment: Typical!

Two: After 1991 the British and the US, to the extent the British wished, had even more detailed informatiom about the Soviet's modus operandi than what Juan Vives published in his book.

Comment: In spite of that incredible inside-the-Soviet-mind knowledge, our (U.S:) governement has allowed Russia to become again the same enemy we had during the Cold War days. Do we only hire intellectually challenged personnel in the State Department and NSA/CIA?

I don't think so! Read on....

Now, with that said.... let us proceed to the often misused or quoted out of context speech by President Kennedy delivered to a press gathering on April 27, 1961. (1)

That speech one and only one purpose was to alert the press to carefully monitor what they published because of the threat the Soviets posed in the world.

The US was already well infected by their operatives to an extent that Mr. Kennedy did not even know - yes, we can say that now without a shred of a doubt! And so was Latin America and S.E. Asia.

A a matter, the infection was so severe that after reviewing what Mr. Vivés exposed in "Os Donos de Cuba" ("The Owners of Cuba") (2)(3)(4) - much of which we can indirectly or directly attest to (5) - Senator McCarthy's alleged "witch hunt" should have started earlier and continued for a longer time. Furthermore, if the Soviets did not do more internal damage in the U.S. was because Mr. Hoover's un-orthodox activities as FBI director.

The above statements must be viewed with the backdrop that: We never were admirers of either Senator McCarthy nor M. Hoover - nonetheless, the truth is The Truth no matter who speaks it.

Two 'abandoned' cylinders seized in Syria contained sarin - U.N. (1)

Two cylinders reportedly seized by Syrian government troops in an area controlled by armed opposition groups contained deadly sarin, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a letter to the U.N. Security Council published on Monday.

Ban said that on June 14, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) United Nations Joint Mission overseeing the destruction of Syria's chemical stockpile analyzed the contents of the cylinders.

"The Joint Mission confirmed that these contained sarin," said Ban's letter. The letter said the cylinders were "reportedly seized by the armed forces of the Syrian Arab Republic in August 2013 in an area reportedly under the control of armed opposition groups."

Forgotten vials of smallpox found in storage room. (1)

A government scientist cleaning out an old storage room at a research center near Washington made a startling discovery last week - decades-old vials of smallpox packed away and forgotten in a cardboard box.

The six glass vials were intact and sealed,....

Still, the find was disturbing because for decades after smallpox was declared eradicated in 1980, world health authorities said the only known samples left were safely stored in super-secure laboratories in Atlanta and in Russia.

Officials said this is the first time in the U.S. that unaccounted-for smallpox has been discovered. At least one leading scientist raised the possibility that there are more such vials out there around the world.

The CDC and the FBI are investigating.

Los Alamos lab admits mishandling toxic waste, causing repository radiation leak (1)

In a letter addressed to the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED), lab officials at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) have admitted to mishandling toxic waste shipped to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad, New Mexico, the nation’s only permanent repository for plutonium-contaminated waste from government nuclear facilities.

LANL failed to follow proper protocols when switching from inorganic absorption material to an organic substitute, and the lab also failed to follow up on waste which tests showed to be highly acidic, both in violation of its Hazardous Waste Facility Permit. Despite hundreds of experiments, investigators have been unable to confirm what actually caused the underground leak. In the meantime, the repository remains closed.

Hospitals mining credit card data to predict and control patient behavior. (1)

Say hello to new risk scores. Yes, credit behavior is taking on a whole new meaning. Credit behavior is no longer only predicting your risk as a borrower, but additionally your risk as a health liability on society and to health providers.

Hospitals are beginning to assign risk scores that predict how your personal spending habits will affect your health--and their profits--by mining credit card purchases and loyalty program transactions.

If you're smart you'll start buying everything you consume from cocktails at happy hour and prescription refills to food at the grocery store in cash only and without using a loyalty card.

Factory reset tool on Android smartphones does not remove all photos, emails, chats, and other personal data, says security firm. (1)

When Android users choose to reset their smartphones, they generally believe their personal data is deleted. But Avast Software..... says that's not necessarily the case. The company was able to recover vast stores of personal data from wiped smartphones using off-the-shelf software. Time to rethink your selfies?

Avast purchased 20 different Android smartphones from eBay, which typically has tens of thousands of such devices for sale at any given time. The previous owners performed a factory reset, deleting all the content from the phones, before selling them. The factory reset option.... claims to erase everything from the phone and memory card. Avast then used commercially available recovery software to dig up personal information.

Avast restored 40,000 photos -- including 1,500 of children, 750 of women in various stages of undress, and 250 male nudes -- from just 20 phones. Avast also recovered 1,000 Google searches, 750 emails and text messages, and 250 contact names and email addresses.

Sageworks opens its data on privately held companies to journalists for free. (1)

In years past, it's been very difficult for journalists to report accurately on privately held companies particularly in regards to their financial status and workings--but now that's changed. Even data on the most closely held companies is open to media for mining--and it comes free of charge.

"Members of the media can now access the most up-to-date data on the sales, profit and debt trends of private companies in 17 primary industry categories--including manufacturing, retail, construction, health care, agriculture, food services and more--on the Sageworks website 24 hours a day," reads the press release.

"With over 1000 private company financial statements aggregated and added to the industry averages per day, Sageworks' data equips journalists with quick and easy access to the latest industry trend data to support articles, interviews and TV segments. Sageworks' data fills the gap between industry data from the Census Bureau and data on publicly-traded companies. The private company data is used regularly by journalists covering business, finance and the economy."

New York Times Publishes Full-Page Anti-Catholic Ad (1)

"Dogma should not trump our civil liberties."  That's the UN-civil message from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) in a full-page ad which appears in the front news section of a recent New York Times.

Pictured at the top is birth control pioneer Margaret Sanger, the racist, atheist founder of Planned Parenthood whose motto was "No Gods - No Masters."

The ad criticizes the "all-male, all-Roman Catholic majority" of the Supreme Court who voted to protect Americans' religious rights in the Hobby Lobby case accusing them of "putting religious wrongs over women's rights."

According to the FFRF website, "Allowing employers to decide what kind of birth control an employee can use is not, as the Supreme Court ruled, an ‘exercise of religion.' It is an exercise of tyranny. Employers should have no right to impose their religious beliefs upon workers," reads the ad.

"Dogma should not trump our civil liberties."

miguel de Portugal comments: "We reap what we sow".

If the Evangelization had been carried out as Jesus intended, the Catholic Faith would not be facing situations like the one above.

If all kinds of abortion were legal, humans could even marry goats and drugs were given away free of charge, a properly Evangelized soul would not be touched by it. Children properly brought up by properly Evangelized parents would not be touched by it. Those who would fall for some or all of that, even if they were properly Evangelized,  most likely are not amongst the Elect.

"Availability" is not the same as "Imposition". If birth control or the lack of it would be imposed by civil law - that would be a real problem. If men were forbidden to marry women, or forced to marry whether they want to or not, that would also be a real problem. If the use of drugs were promoted and encouraged through advertising, that would be a problem.

If the Roman Catholic Church Administration had obeyed God, Whom they shamelessly claim to represent: (a) At Fatima - the bloodiest century of human history would have never happened; and (b) At Montechiari and Fontanelle - the final decay of the religious and clergy would have never happened.

We reap what we sow and you really have no idea how painful will be what remains to be harvested.

China Plans Tours of World War II Japanese Biowarfare Lab. (1)

Beijing plans next year to start allowing visitors at a biological- and chemical-arms laboratory operated by Japan during World War II, the Xinhua News Agency reports.

A project manager on Monday said the move would showcase the often-fatal human experiments once conducted by Japanese scientists at the site, located in the Chinese city of Harbin.

Crews are now excavating the laboratory, which hosted research by a Japanese army unit that specialized in developing biological and chemical agents for use in combat.

The laboratory operated in secrecy between its 1935 launch and its destruction a decade later, according to Xinhua. Japanese troops demolished the facility in anticipation of its capture by invading Soviet forces, the Chinese state-run news service reported.

The site's research was responsible for the death of more than 10,000 people, Xinhua said. The individuals who died in experiments reportedly included noncombatants and captured military personnel from China, the Soviet Union, the Korean Peninsula and Mongolia.

miguel de Portugal comments: Although a real tragedy - which is ignored or forgotten by most of the world - the fact that China wants to highlight this part of history now reveals much about their thoughts and plans regarding Japan.  Keep in mind that the Chinese authorities have no intention of being Perfect as the Father is Perfect.....

Vatican bank clean-up and account closures wipe out profit. (1)

The Vatican bank has blocked the accounts of more than 2,000 clients and ended some 3,000 "customer relationships" as part of a clean-up process that nearly wiped out its profit, its 2013 financial statement showed on Tuesday.

The bank has been hit by years of scandal, including money laundering allegations and is about to be restructured with a new president and a new board.

All but about 400 of the 3,000 terminated accounts were "dormant" with small balances and had been inactive for years. [Read: 2,600 accounts  were "dormant" with small balances and had been inactive for years.]

The statement showed that the ongoing clean-up process, started by its President Ernst von Freyberg after his arrival last year, has come with a heavy financial price, particularly for ridding the IOR of some dubious investments.

Profits in 2013 plummeted to 2.9 million euros ($4 million) from 86.6 million euros in 2012 as the IOR took huge write-downs to wind up investments made before the bank's reform program started and when there was less vigilance.

Last year's profits were also hit by extraordinary expenses related to the hiring of external professionals, such as the Promontory Financial Group, to help in compliance and transparency issues and account closures.

The statement said 2013 profit would have been about 70 million euros without the write-downs and the one-off expenses.

The statement indicated the IOR had turned the corner after the costly clean-up, saying that results for the first six months of 2014 showed a net profit of 57.4 million euros.

miguel de Portugal comments: Not impressed, even if the report was true..... a condition which would be incoherent with anything coming out of the Vatican.

Which brings to mind the thought that, since the 2013 profits practically vanished as the result of the extraordinary expenses related to the hiring of external professionals, such as the Promontory Financial Group, maybe the Promontory Financial Group is another of the Opus Dei "holy" enterprise.

Bill Gates' new remote-controlled contraceptive microchip could be used for eugenics(1)

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is funding the development of a contraceptive microchip that can be remotely controlled to release hormones that can act as abortifacients into a woman's body for up to 16 years. Both the chip's potential to take a life and the potential privacy concerns have drawn criticism.

The chip, which measures 20 x 20 x 7 millimeters, can be implanted under the skin of a woman's buttocks, upper arm, or abdomen in 30 minutes. The device contains a 16-year reservoir of the drug levonorgestrel, releasing 30 micrograms a day – but the dosage can be altered by remote control, as well.

The technology was originally intended, and tested, to release osteoporosis medication in elderly women, but Dr. Robert Langer of MIT changed his focus to contraception after a personal discussion with Bill Gates.

Gavin Corley, a biomedical engineer, told the BBC the technology could be used to achieve contraceptive targets in the developing world, indicating "a humanitarian application as opposed to satisfying a first-world need."

miguel de Portugal comments: That it could be used for eugenics? Of course it will!

What else would they come up with it for?

Ex-Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey backs bill legalizing Assisted dying. (1)

Former Archbishop of Canterbury (Anglican Church) Lord Carey says he will support legislation that would make it legal for terminally ill people in England and Wales to receive help to end their lives.

Lord Carey writes in the Daily Mail that he has dropped his opposition to the Assisted Dying Bill "in the face of the reality of needless suffering".

But the current Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has called the bill "mistaken and dangerous".

Insisting it would not be "anti-Christian" to change the law, Lord Carey said the current situation risked "undermining the principle of human concern which should lie at the heart of our society".

He added: "Today we face a central paradox. In strictly observing the sanctity of life, the Church could now actually be promoting anguish and pain, the very opposite of a Christian message of hope."

miguel de Portugal comments: Do you see the logic that will be applied to activate Mr. Gates latest gadget?

When will we be hearing again the famous mantra of the 80's "More deviation (sexual), less population!"? We are surprised that the pro marriage among homosexuals group have not resurrected that mantra yet.

In other words, it seems that all can be "logically" and conveniently justified now.

Berkeley dispensaries now required to give free marijuana to the poor. (1)

If you love smoking pot, live in Berkeley and don't make a lot of money, the city council has some good news for you: your pot may now be free .

An ordinance approved by the Berkeley City Council says that at least 2 percent of all pot carried by medical marijuana dispensaries must be provided "at no cost" to "very low-income" individuals and families.

And unlike the clichéd image of "government cheese," the ordinance further stipulates that the free marijuana "shall be the same quality on average as Medical Cannabis that is dispensed to other members."

When James A. Lovell, during the Apollo 13 Mission, beamed to NASA headquarters the message  "Houston, We've Had a Problem", he had no idea of the definition of "a problem" as we have in the world today. We as a "civilization" are in free fall and about to crash.

After Lapses, C.D.C. Admits a Lax Culture at Labs (1)

Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, spent much of Wednesday completing a report that would let the public see, in embarrassing detail, how the sloppy handling of anthrax by scientists at its headquarters here had potentially exposed dozens of employees to the deadly bacteria.

But just as he was sitting down for a late-afternoon lunch at his Washington, D.C., office, an urgent call came in. There had been another accident, this one just as disturbing, if not more so - and no one in the agency’s top leadership had been informed about it until that Monday, though the C.D.C.'s lab had been told about it more than a month earlier.

C.D.C. workers had somehow shipped a dangerous strain of avian influenza to a poultry research lab run by the Department of Agriculture. Known as H5N1, the virus had killed more than half of the 650 people who had been infected with it since 2003.

"I was, just frankly, stunned and appalled," Dr. Frieden said in an interview Saturday.

miguel de Portugal comments: Dr. Frieden, you are not the only one stunned and appalled! I am stunned and appalled that we continue to employ second rate administrators and "scientists" as you and your team exemplify; the NSA and its Snowden-like team; etc., etc. Mediocrity everywhere!

Never mind the position God has called me to fulfill for the End of These Times. Just as an individual who has done research within the Atomic Energy Comission and has worked in top secret and dangerous to the population projects for the 4th largest Petrochemical in the world, I am certainly qualified to make such satement.

Whatever misery and disgrace may fall upon us, there is only one comment that will fit it well: We have worked hard for it and is well deserved!.... including, of course, the Chastisement!

US Monitoring Germany's Activities. (1)

Is it because they know us so little - or because they know us too well - that the Americans can't stop spying on us Germans?

It is a question worth pondering after last week's revelation that American agents had recruited at least one member of Germany's foreign intelligence service, the BND, and may have done the same with a high-ranking defense official. In response, the German government denounced the "stupidity" of the C.I.A. and expelled its top man in Berlin.

The reports struck nerves already jangled by Edward J. Snowden’s revelations about the scope and depth of the National Security Agency’s surveillance into both private communications and Chancellor Angela Merkel's cellphone.

Against this backdrop, it is hard to qualify the latest scandal as mere stupidity.  To many Germans, America's continuing espionage against one of its supposedly closest allies smacks of arrogance and disrespect.

My suspicion is that this all happened because the Americans know us so well - but don't accept what they see.

miguel de Portugal comments: Yes indeed - "....the Americans know us so well - but don't accept what they see".

Let us call "spade", a spade..... A mediocre human being like Hitler did not wage alone a brutal war against the world. It required millions of Germans, whose fundamental genes cannot change in just a few decades - actually, not even in a few centuries. An in depth study of Hitler's rise to power and what he did once he was there reflects only one thing: If one can get another man or woman who could push the right genetic buttons of the German people as Hitler did, and  if that man or woman happens to be chosen by satan - as Hitler was (2) -we would see a replay of World War I and II.

Therefore - for those who believe in spying (which does not include m de P) - it is not a bad idea to keep a close eye on Germany as well as on Japan... for the exact same reasons.

Could it be that we actually have someone truly competent in Washington? Maybe so!

Crack Down on Scientific Fraudsters. (1)

Dong-Pyou Han needed impressive lab results to help his team at Iowa State University move forward with its work on an AIDS vaccine - and to continue receiving millions of dollars in federal grants. So Dr. Han did what many scientists are probably tempted to do, but don't: He faked the tests, spiking rabbit blood with human proteins to make it appear that the animals were responding to the vaccine to fight H.I.V.

Even though research misconduct is far from rare, Dr. Han's case was unusual in that he had to resign. Criminal charges against scientists who commit fraud are even more uncommon. In fact, according to a study published last year, "most investigators who engage in wrongdoing, even serious wrongdoing, continue to conduct research at their institutions."

As part of our reporting, we've written about multiple academic researchers who have been found guilty of misconduct and then have gone on to work at pharmaceutical giants.

miguel de Portugal comments: At least some progress is being made about those "scientists" and "researchers" we often speak about.

Physicians are made to pay when they make mistakes - just ask the insurance companies. It is time that these two-bit scientists and researchers start paying penalties/fines/settlements just as MD's must, even the times when they have made an honest mistake.

A small biotech start-up in Cambridge, England took the early lead in the race toward the organ farm - A transgenic pig. (1)

In December of 1992, at a farm in Cambridgeshire, they created "Astrid," the world's first transgenic pig, who carried human genes within her organs to help prevent rejection by the organ recipient's immune system (one of the thorniest problems facing xenotransplantation).

A year and half later, Imutran announced it had produced several generations of Astrids who might be eligible for human trials by 1996.

Started by a handful of scientists, the company received early funding from Sandoz pharmaceutical company whose profits were heavily derived from an immunosuppressive drug key to successful transplants. Sandoz eventually purchased Imutran outright. In 1996, Sandoz merged with Ciba-Geigy to form Novartis.

Church lawyer details cover-up claims on sex abuse.(1)

A canon lawyer alleging a widespread cover-up of clergy sex misconduct in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has made her most detailed claims yet, accusing archbishops and their top staff of lying to the public and of ignoring the U.S. bishops' pledge to have no tolerance of priests who abuse.

Jennifer Haselberger, who spent five years as Archbishop John Nienstedt's archivist and top adviser on Roman Catholic church law, also charged that the church used a chaotic system of record-keeping that helped conceal the backgrounds of guilty priests who remained on assignment.

Haselberger said that when she started examining records in 2008 of clergy under restrictions over sex misconduct with adults and children she found "nearly 20" of the 48 men still in ministry. She said she repeatedly warned Nienstedt and his aides about the risk of these placements, but they took action only in one case. As a result of raising alarms, she said she was eventually shut out of meetings about priest misconduct. She resigned last year.

"Had there been any serious desire to implement change, it could have been done quickly and easily with the stroke of a single pen," Haselberger wrote in the affidavit (2) , released Tuesday in a civil lawsuit brought by attorney Jeff Anderson. "The archbishop's administrative authority in his diocese is basically unlimited."

Austrian Priest mentions hell and purgatory to students: Diocese then forbids him from teaching. (1)

Thomas Ladner is a 36 year old Austrian priest, ... collaborator in the parish of Stans, in Tyrol, a small town of 1500 souls, where he also teaches religion in the primary school.

Before the end of the school year, he was informed of the withdrawal of his permit to teach by the diocese of Innsbruck.

The priest's fault, according to the diocesan school office, would be that:

(a) he had spoken to his young students about The Four Last Things, among which he mentioned hell and purgatory; "lessons not suitable for children at their stage in life";
(b)  he had dealt with themes on the family in "terms no longer up-to-date"; and
(c) used "rhetorical language," or rather – too traditional.

The reaction this time came from the parishioners themselves, who appreciate Father Ladner's humane manner and pastoral work, above all with the young.

Parents launched a petition, while the mayor wrote a harsh letter to the curia complaining about the agitation in the town brought about by such an "unacceptable decision."

...despite the clamour, the diocese and the Bishop, Manfred Scheuer, until now, have not shown any signs of changing their mind.

miguel de Portugal comments: These are the poor priests who need prayerful support. There are more of these than most would suspect given that the manner in which they are "taken out of the way" seldom see the light of day.

Essentially - the few priests that we have come across in 29 years and who "were worth their salt", a Sanctuary of Fatima chaplain included, were essentially neutralized by the Administrators.

While the pedophile priests are given ample room for action, the true priests of God are neutralized. A true blasphemy.

...and some people still doubt that it is satan who is the Chief Administrator of  the Roman Catholic Church, just as the Ever Virgin and Glorious Mary has been saying since the middle of the 19th century.

Russia 'agrees to reopen Cuba spy base'

Russia has provisionally agreed to reopen a major Cold War listening post on Cuba that was used to spy on the United States, a Russian daily reported Wednesday after President Vladimir Putin visited the island last week.

Kommersant reported that Russia and Cuba had agreed "in principle" to reopen the Lourdes base, mothballed since 2001, citing several sources within Russian authorities.

"The agreements were finalised while President Vladimir Putin visited Havana last Friday," the respected daily wrote.

miguel de Portugal comments: Just to show you how stupid these world "leaders" think that the general world population is, members of the press included, let us rewind to the news published in Russia's Pravda in 2012.

Russia has set their latest mobile strategic nuclear missiles "Oak" in Cuba on May 2012.

After the meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama, Putin made a sudden harsh statement to the press.  (*)

"In 2001 I, as the President of the Russian Federation and the supreme commander, deemed it advantageous to withdraw the radio-electronic center Lourdes from Cuba......

The Russian Federation has fulfilled all terms of the agreement. And even more. I shut down not only the Cuban Lourdes but also Kamran in Vietnam. I shut them down because I gave my word of honor. I, like a man, has kept my word. What have the Americans done? The Americans are not responsible for their own words. It is no secret that in recent years, the U.S. created a buffer zone around Russia, involving in this process not only the countries of Central Europe, but also the Baltic states, Ukraine and the Caucasus.

The only response to this could be an asymmetric expansion of the Russian military presence abroad, particularly in Cuba. In Cuba, there are convenient bays for our reconnaissance and warships, a network of the so-called "jump airfields." With the full consent of the Cuban leadership, on May 11 of this year, our country has not only resumed work in the electronic center of Lourdes, but also placed the latest mobile strategic nuclear missiles "Oak" on the island. They (the US) did not want to do it the amicable way, now let them deal with this," Putin said.

Ebola crisis in West Africa deepens - 500+ dead. (1)

There has been "a gross misjudgment across the board in gauging the severity and scale of damage the current Ebola outbreak can unleash," the aid group Plan International warned earlier this month.

"There are no cases from outside Africa to date. The threat of it spreading though is very much there," said Dr. Unni Krishnan, head of disaster preparedness and response for the aid group.

Preachers are calling for divine intervention, and panicked residents in remote areas have on multiple occasions attacked the very health workers sent to help them.

In one town in Sierra Leone, residents partially burned down a treatment center over fears that the drugs given to victims were actually causing the disease.

miguel de Portugal comments: "Preachers are calling for divine intervention" - Well, well, well....what do you know! The eternal "action and reaction" syndrome.... Pain continues to be the "Magic Word" to remind people that there IS a God and that He IS NOT pleased, thus allowing - NOT causing - misery in the hopes that some of His wayward children may come back to Him.

Unfortunately mankind, as whole, will not learn. Just a few - the Elect.

Buzz Aldrin Opens Up About 'UFO' Encounter (1)

The ex-astronaut, who is speaking out this month ahead of the 45th anniversary of the 1969 moon landing, discussed the mission, his "UFO" encounter, and more in a Reddit AMA on Tuesday.

Dishing about the moment he saw an "unidentified" object floating outside his Apollo capsule, Aldrin wrote:

On Apollo 11 en route to the Moon, I observed a light out the window that appeared to be moving alongside us. There were many explanations of what that could be, other than another spacecraft from another country or another world -- it was either the rocket we had separated from, or the 4 panels that moved away when we extracted the lander from the rocket and we were nose to nose with the two spacecraft. So in the close vicinity, moving away, were 4 panels. And I feel absolutely convinced that we were looking at the sun reflected off of one of these panels. Which one? I don't know. So technically, the definition could be "unidentified."

miguel de Portugal comments: So much for those who have been claiming that Mr. Aldrin was a "UFO supporter/promoter".

This is a good example as how can things be taken out of context to draw the conclusion required by an "agenda".

New Observations Indicate G2 Cloud Has not Yet Reached Orbital Pericenter.

Observations reported in the Astronomers Telegram on June 30th by astronomers Eckart, et al.(1) indicate that the G2 cloud is still on its way inward toward the Galactic core and hence has not yet reached its orbital pericenter.

Late last year  Gillessen et al. (2013) had made calculations of the orbital characteristics of the G2 cloud and had estimated that the G2 cloud would reach its point of closest approach to the Galactic core around April 1st, i.e., over three months ago.

But now observations carried out by Eckart, et al. suggest differently.  They see that the emission from the cloud is still largely redshifted, hence that the cloud is still heading away from us toward the GC.  This could explain why the Galactic core has been so quiet up until now.

BRICS nations set up bank to rival IMF and World Bank. (1)

Leaders of five emerging market countries have launched a new $100bn development bank.

Known as the BRICS nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa -they agreed the aim of the bank will be to fund infrastructure projects in developing countries.

It will be based in Shanghai and as its first president will be Indian, it was left to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explain its ethos:

"It will benefit BRICS nations, but will also support other developing nations. And it will be rooted in our own experiences as developing countries."

The bank is the group's first concrete step towards reshaping the Western-dominated international financial system.

The group which was meeting in Fortaleza in Brazil also set up a $100bn currency reserve pool to help countries forestall short-term liquidity pressures.

BRICS nations have long criticised the World bank and the International Monetary Fund for not giving developing nations enough voting rights within their organisations.

miguel de Portugal comments: Translation: Now Russia and China control Brazil, India, and South Africa.

The theory is that these machines would help provide a non-harmful outlet for an individual's sexual inclinations as part of a treatment programme. It's like providing methadone to heroin addicts, the reasoning goes.

Ronald Arkin, the mobile robot lab director at the Georgia Institute of Technology, was one of the participants at the conference who is in favour of pursing the idea. He told Forbes magazine's Kashmir Hill:

"There are no presumptions that this will assuredly yield positive results - I only believe it is worth investigating in a controlled way to possibly provide better protection to society from recidivism in sex offenders. If we can save some children, I think it's a worthwhile project."

miguel de Portugal comments: From the perspective/view, thus the knowledge about action/reaction, that God has granted me - we can assure you that such consideration would be the worse imaginable course of action to take - thus, it is obviously from satan.

In case someone still is not quite convinced how far gone our "civilization" is, perhaps the above news report may wake them up.

The whole idea is positively revolting.

Little child identifies 'The Man' who says "He is coming soon" (1)

Emma Sukut began to point at angels in her bedroom and talk about them to her parents at about 18-months-old.

"Every morning when I would get her up she would point up at the ceiling and say, 'Look momma, there's angels up there,'" says Caitlyn Sukut, her mother. More recently, she has spoken about "The Man" who appears with the angels.

Caitlyn was amazed one morning when Emma told her, "The man protects us and loves us. The man's coming, momma. The man's coming soon."

"Does the man look like Jesus?" Caitlyn asked.

"No," Emma replied.

Emma has seen paintings of Jesus at church, so Caitlyn wasn't sure if Emma would confuse the person she saw in her room with the various artistic representations of Jesus. "We don't refer to people as 'The man' in our house," Caitlyn noted, so her choice of words seemed curious.

A few weeks ago, the Sukuts visited South Shores Church in Dana Point, California, and as Caitlyn and her daughter walked into the sanctuary, Emma got very excited and pointed up at a stained glass window.

"Oh momma look, there's 'The Man,'" she cried.

"This picture?" Caitlyn asked. "That's Jesus!"

"Yes, that's 'The Man.'"

miguel de Portugal comments: "The Man" is indeed coming.... and, obviously, not a moment too soon!

Please Note: At this moment we are not endorsing the above related experience since I have yet to receive its confirmation from above. However, we felt that we should share it with you.

Scientists Create 'Super Black' That Our Eye Can't See (1)

Imagine an object so black that you could stare right at it and see nothing at all. That object now exists, thanks to a British nanotechnology company.

Surrey Nanosystems has created a new "super black" coating that absorbs 99.96% of light, which is to say, all light the human eye can detect, the company announced last week.

The Engineer explains that it can be "applied to flat and three-dimensional structures in precise patterns with sub-micron resolution," and....

..... the Independent gives an example: Scientists applied the material, which the company calls "Vantablack," to sheets of aluminum foil. While the foil is visibly crinkled around it, within the area covered by the coating, those crinkles and contours disappear.

The number of labs handling deadly germs grows, and so do calls for regulating lab safety. (1)

The number of labs handling dangerous pathogens continues to grow, and so does the number of accidents involving dangerous pathogens.

The number of reported accidents involving dangerous microbes grew rapidly from just sixteen in 2004 to 128 in 2008, and 269 in 2010, the last year reported.

Experts note that currently there is no single federal agency responsible for assessing overall laboratory needs - instead, departments and agencies only assess the needs for labs relative to their respective missions.

The recent accounts of mishaps at federal laboratories involving anthrax, bird flu, and smallpox have led many to question the government’s handling of dangerous pathogens.

The number of incidents which have occurred over the past few years at academic, commercial, and government labs which operate without clear standards or oversight continues to increase.

Hackers Find Way to Outwit Tough Security at Banking Sites. (1)

Researchers at the computer security company Trend Micro have named a new attack on online banking Emmental. Why? Like the Swiss cheese, the researchers said, online banking protections may be “full of holes.”

The researchers uncovered what they say is a sophisticated, multistage attack by cybercriminals determined to bypass the so-called two-factor authentication systems at banks in Austria, Japan, Sweden and Switzerland, according to a report to be released Tuesday.

Most sites ask for a single password. But two-factor authentication systems require customers to enter a second, one-time password that has been emailed or texted to their phones. The hope is that a second identifying factor eliminates the risk that criminals can break into customers’ accounts simply by stealing an online password.

But Trend Micro found that hackers were able to bypass the two-factor authentication systems at the European and Japanese banks through an attack that begins - as most do - with a phishing email.

miguel de Portugal comments: Another reminder about the non existent "cyber security".

The New Nigerian Email Swindle - the Nigerian email swindle 2.0 (1)

The attacks begin, as so many do, with a malicious email attachment. (Ah, yes, dear reader, yet another example of the dangers of wanton clicking.)

Once clicked, victims inadvertently download malicious tools onto their devices; one, NetWire, is capable of remotely taking over a Windows, Mac OS or Linux system, and another, DataScrambler, makes sure the NetWire program is undetectable by antivirus products.

Researcher said the attackers did not design the tools themselves, but got them from other hackers on underground hacking forums. DataScrambler can be leased for between $25 and $60, depending on how long criminals want to remain undetected as they record their victims’ keystrokes.

US intelligence officers now say they are sure pro- Russian rebels used a SA -11 surface -to-air missile to shoot down Flight MH17 , but that it was most likely to have been a mistake. However they offered no evidence of direct Russian government involvement.

US Homeland Security sued over data mining. (1)

A US-based privacy lobby group has sued the country's customs agency over its unwillingness to release details on a border control program the group claims represents an unconstitutional invasion of citizen's privacy.

The Electronic Privacy Information Centre (EPIC) filed its lawsuit over the weekend in an effort to force US Customs to make public documents detailing the structure, scope and capabilities of its "analytical framework for intelligence" database, as first reported by Ars Technica.

The AFI database has been in operation since August 2012 and compiles data pertaining to travellers and cargo crossing US borders.

It allows Customs to access a single platform for link analysis, anomaly detection, pattern analysis and predictive modelling of relevant data, which includes names, addresses, social security numbers, occupation, race and nationality, among other details.

The data used in the AFI comes from both government and non-government databases - including the Department of Homeland Security's 'automated targeting system'.

miguel de Portugal comments: If said group was really interested in privacy rights they would sue Amazon, Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. first. Their individual's databases surpass in quantity and quality what HS has. It seems that EPIC is more interested in finding out about the electronic controls used in the US borders so that they may be able to avoid them.

Creationist Ken Ham Says Aliens Will Go To Hell So Let's Stop Looking For Them. (1)

Creationist Ken Ham, who recently debated Bill Nye the Science Guy over the origins of the universe, is calling for an end to the search for extraterrestrial life because aliens probably don't exist -- and if they do, they're going to Hell anyway.

"You see, the Bible makes it clear that Adam's sin affected the whole universe," Ham wrote on his blog on Sunday. "This means that any aliens would also be affected by Adam's sin, but because they are not Adam's descendants, they can't have salvation."

The post was driven in part by NASA experts saying that they expect to find evidence of alien life within the next 20 years. "It's highly improbable in the limitless vastness of the universe that we humans stand alone," NASA administrator Charles Bolden said last week.

If aliens do exist, however, Ham said even Jesus can't save them:

Jesus did not become the "GodKlingon" or the "GodMartian"! Only descendants of Adam can be saved. God’s Son remains the "Godman" as our Savior. In fact, the Bible makes it clear that we see the Father through the Son (and we see the Son through His Word). To suggest that aliens could respond to the gospel is just totally wrong.

miguel de Portugal comments: This man is so gone that we would not even bother proving to him his manifold theo-errors. Actually, just his photograph tells where he is coming from.

Head of troubled CDC anthrax lab has resigned. (1)

The head of the government lab that potentially exposed workers to live anthrax has resigned, an agency spokesman said Wednesday.

Michael Farrell was head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lab since 2009. He submitted his resignation Tuesday, the spokesman said.

Farrell declined interview requests, said the spokesman, Tom Skinner.

Farrell was reassigned following an incident last month at an Atlanta lab that handles bioterrorism agents. The lab was supposed to completely kill anthrax samples before sending them to two other CDC labs that had fewer safeguards. But the higher-security lab did not completely sterilize the bacteria.

Frieden said the two incidents forced agency officials to recognize that a number of safety lapses — which had been treated as isolated accidents — were actually signs of systemic safety problems in the CDC laboratories that handle dangerous germs.

Frieden closed the anthrax and flu labs, halted exports from other high-level labs, and kicked off an analysis that is to include appointment of an external panel of experts.

Obama administration officials said Thursday that Russia is firing artillery from its own territory into Ukraine to hit Ukrainian military sites, pointing to escalating Russian involvement in the deadly conflict.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf also claimed Moscow is boosting its military shipments to pro-Russian separatists.

"We have new evidence that the Russians intend to deliver heavier and more powerful multiple rocket launchers to separatist forces in Ukraine and have evidence that Russia is firing artillery from within Russian to attack Ukrainian military positions," Harf told reporters.

She said the evidence derived from "human intelligence information" but declined to elaborate, saying it would compromise sources and methods of intelligence collection.

The Pentagon, though, confirmed her account, and said Russia has been firing artillery for several days now.

Yellowstone Closes Road Because It's Melting. (1)

You'll never guess why "Firehole Lake Drive" is temporarily off-limits to tourists in Yellowstone National Park. Yes, the popular 3.3-mile loop is closed for a while because the asphalt is melting, reports National Parks Traveler.

"Extreme heat from surrounding thermal areas has caused thick oil to bubble to the surface, damaging the blacktop and creating unsafe driving conditions," says a park release. While that kind of thing isn't uncommon given Yellowstone's geology, the damage to the road is "unusually severe," reports the AP.

The park wants non-motorists to stay away from the region as well, because soil that looks solid to a hiker might give way to scalding water below.

Unusually high temperatures in the mid-80s of late haven't helped.

Chinese river turns crimson as blood. (1)

Last Thursday morning, a river in eastern China suddenly turned a bloody shade of red, according to unverified reports by ABC News, China News, Shanghaist, and others.

"Local residents say the river was running normally at 4am, but it started to redden at around 6am, and in no time turned as crimson as blood," China Radio International reported.

While nobody is quite sure what caused the alarming change, the ABC report said "a paper manufacturer, a food-coloring company and a clothing-maker" were located along the river.

When China's Jian River turned red in 2011, it was traced to a company that was illegally dumping red dye into the waterway. The Yangtze River had a similar incident, back in 2012, which was thought to have been caused by silt in the river.

Fear of Ebola Breeds a Terror of Physicians. (1)

Eight youths, some armed with slingshots and machetes, stood warily alongside a rutted dirt road at an opening in the high reeds, the path to the village of Kolo Bengou. The deadly Ebola virus is believed to have infected several people in the village, and the youths were blocking the path to prevent health workers from entering.

"We don't want any visitors," said their leader, Faya Iroundouno, 17, president of Kolo Bengou's youth league. .... The others nodded in agreement and fiddled with their slingshots.

Singling out the international aid group Doctors Without Borders, Mr. Iroundouno continued, "Wherever those people have passed, the communities have been hit by illness."

Health workers here say they are now battling two enemies: the unprecedented Ebola epidemic, which has killed more than 660 people in four countries since it was first detected in March, and fear, which has produced growing hostility toward outside help. On Friday alone, health authorities in Guinea confirmed 14 new cases of the disease.

Health officials say the epidemic is out of control, moving back and forth across the porous borders of Guinea and neighboring Sierra Leone and Liberia .... infiltrating the lively open-air markets, overwhelming weak health facilities and decimating villages.

The dead, including a seven-year-old girl and her baby sister, were Ahmadis, who consider themselves Muslim but believe in a prophet after Mohammed. A 1984 Pakistani law declared them non-Muslims and many Pakistanis consider them heretics.

Of the 10,000 foreign fighters who have already joined militant groups in Syria and Iraq, 3,000 hold European or other Western passports, making it easy for them to travel across most borders.

U.S. officials report that as many as 100 foreign fighters hold U.S. passports, leading to worries that foreign fighters may return to the United States to launch an attack.

miguel de Portugal comments: And the problem is?

Not to tax the obviously overworked neurons of those in charge of US and European security..... All they have to do is revoke all of those passports - in effect preventing them from re entering the U.S. and/or any of the European Union countries.

In the case of U.S. citizens, we would take it one step further: Summarily stripping them of US citizenship so that they can freely apply for citizenship in ISIS, whatever that really is. We would not want to stand in their way of solidarity and full communion with ISIS, would we?

We pray that those who constitute the Guardian Angels (2) of The M+G+R Foundation are able to explain it to their superiors.

Meet The "Minerva Research Initiative" - The Pentagon's Preparation For "Mass Civil Breakdown" (1)

About a month ago we (the author of the publication) showed photos of the Chinese police engaged in a drill designed to crush a "working class insurrection", in which the police did precisely what would be required to end a middle class rebellion. It made us wonder: what does China know that the US doesn't. As it turns out, nothing.

Because long before China was practicing counter-riot ops using rubber bullets, all the way back in 2008 the US Department of Defense was conducting studies on the dynamics of civil unrest, and how the US military might best respond. The name of the project: "Minerva Research Initiative" and its role is to " “improve DoD's basic understanding of the social, cultural, behavioral and political forces that shape regions of the world of strategic importance to the U.S."

The premise behind Minerva is simple: study how violent political overthrow, aka mass civil breakdown, happens in the day and age of social networks, and be prepared to counteract it - by "targeting peaceful activities and protest movements" - when it finally reaches US shores.

miguel de Portugal comments: Considering the number of enemies that we have - with their brains outside our borders - and how easy can civil disorder be triggered using the social networks, we think it is a stupendous idea to study it, the extent of its effects and how to block it fast. It is not a matter of Conspiracy Theory - it is a practical "must do"!

Right now Putin's "boys" are undoubtedly thinking about precisely that to "get back" at us for the sanctions imposed upon them. We remind our readers about how crafty these professional agitators are and, if you have already forgotten about it read again about how they work and how truly effective they are.

We trust that NSA & Co. are studying ways of setting up a "Kill Switch" which will - in essence - instantaneously block all social media interaction. Let us not be so open minded that our brain falls to the ground. With the proper safeguards such "Kill Switch" may just save our government and social system.

Are our "Guardian Angels" listening?

Congressman "shocked" by suppressed 28 pages on 9/11: "challenges you to rethink everything". (1)

Last December, two congressmen made waves when they reported access to shocking 9/11 investigation documents that have long been classified and kept under tight wraps. Both reported being "shocked" at the revelations contained, and called for the documents to be declassified.

Now, another congressman has read the secret documents and has come away shocked as well, claiming the contents caused him to "rearrange my understanding of what happened" on 9/11. He says the information "challenges you to rethink everything."

Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) is now challenging fellow representatives to educate themselves, serve their constituencies' interests fully in the cause of truth, and get involved as well.

"I had to sign an oath that what I read had to remain confidential. But the information I read disappointed me greatly."

Other sources say that the 28 pages contain proof of involvement in 9/11 by the Saudi government, and information "critical to our foreign policy going forward":

Former Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla., who chaired the Joint Inquiry in 2002 and has been beating the drum for more disclosure about 9/11 since then, has never understood why the 28 pages were redacted. Graham told IBTimes that based on his involvement in the investigation and on the now-classified information in the document that his committee produced, he is convinced that "the Saudi government without question was supporting the hijackers who lived in San Diego…."

You can't have 19 people living in the United States for, in some cases, almost two years, taking flight lessons and other preparations, without someone paying for it.

miguel de Portugal comments: Now, this is "a horse of a different color"! This information needs to be brought to light - if nothing else - to all law makers so that they indeed "serve their constituencies' interests fully in the cause of truth". In addition  - our forever blind State Department "statesmen" should also be made aware of the dirty laundry so that they can navigate through the laundromat of world diplomacy wisely and effectively.

The world situation is such that we cannot afford government officials conducing their affairs as if they were blindfolded in a dark room while wielding a stick trying to hit a piñata that may not even be there!
