PART 9 [Old Testament]
2 Kings 21:6-12
And he burned his son as an offering, and practiced soothsaying and augury, and dealt with mediums
and with wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger. And the
graven image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the LORD said to David and
to Solomon his son, "In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes
of Israel, I will put my name for ever; and I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more
out of the land which I gave to their fathers, if only they will be careful to do according to all
that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded
them."
But they did not listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations had done whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel. And the LORD said by his servants the prophets, "Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, and has done things more wicked than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols; therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such evil that the ears of every one who hears of it will tingle."

2 King 23:24-27
Moreover Josiah put away the mediums and the wizards and the teraphim and the idols and all the
abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might establish the
words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the
LORD. Before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with
all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise
after him.
Still the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of his great wrath, by which his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him. And the LORD said, "I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there."

Isaiah 8:16
Bind up the testimony, seal the teaching among my disciples. I will wait for the LORD, who is
hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him. Behold, I and the children whom
the LORD has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the LORD of hosts, who dwells on Mount
Zion. And when they say to you, "Consult the mediums and the wizards who chirp and mutter,"
should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
To the teaching and to the testimony! Surely for this word which they speak there is no dawn. They will pass through the land, greatly distressed and hungry; and when they are hungry, they will be enraged and will curse their king and their God, and turn their faces upward; and they will look to the earth, but behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be thrust into thick darkness.

Let us pray...
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle, be our safeguard against the
wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, Prince of the
Heavenly Hosts, by the Power of God, thrust into Hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl
through the world seeking the ruin of souls. AMEN!
