About Men and Angels

Their Fundamental Difference Before Their Fall

PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to further demonstrate the coherence of the Word of God when it is meditated upon (1) and not manipulated to serve personal and/or political agendas.

INTRODUCTION

In a recent posting in our Points to Ponder (2) page we wrote:

Do you wonder....

(a) Why when Lucifer and his angels fell there was no recourse for them, yet, when Adam and Eve fell there was recourse for them and for all humanity to the extent of God lowering Himself to the human level to give us another opportunity to Eternal Life?

(b) How those who do not know Jesus, the only route to Salvation - have not even heard of Him - will be saved?

Wonder about it for a bit longer.... God Willing, we will soon post the reason as revealed to us.

We are now ready to publish the information as revealed.

DETAILS

First:
Why when Lucifer and his angels fell there was no recourse for them, yet, when Adam and Eve fell there was recourse for them and for all humanity to the extent of God lowering Himself to the human level to give us another opportunity to Eternal Life?

Let us review the instructions of God to Adam and Eve:

And he commanded him, saying: Of every tree of paradise thou shalt eat: But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat. For in what day soever thou shalt eat of it, thou shalt die the death. [Gen 2: 16-17]

Let us keep in mind that before the above took place....

....the Lord God brought forth of the ground all manner of trees, fair to behold, and pleasant to eat of: the tree of life also in the midst of paradise: and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of the place of pleasure to water paradise, which from thence is divided into four heads. [Gen 2: 9-10]

Do notice that at this point man was not forbidden to eat from the "tree of life" - man was only banned from eating from the "tree of knowledge of good and evil".

Do also notice that at this point man could not tell the difference from good and evil or, as we would say in today's world: "Man could not tell his right hand from his left" since he had not eaten from said tree.

Therefore, when Eve, first, and Adam later fell for satan's snare they did it without being able to differentiate "good" from "evil".  Their innocence can be equated with that of an innocent child who would have fallen for the same trick.

Conversely, when Lucifer revolted against God - because of the superior intellect and illumination of angels - he knew good and well what was wrong and what was right and he chose the wrong by defying God - his Creator Whom he knew, not on faith but in fact.

Logically, because Adam and Eve "could not tell their right hand from their left hand" God would temper His Divine Justice with His Mercy as He passed judgment on them. Mankind would, henceforth, have to struggle to physically survive - but survive they would and later on they would be given the opportunity to return to Paradise.

16 To the woman also he said: I will multiply thy sorrows, and thy conceptions: in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children, and thou shalt be under thy husband's power, and he shall have dominion over thee. 17 And to Adam he said: Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldst not eat, cursed is the earth in thy work; with labour and toil shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life. 18 Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herbs of the earth.  19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return to the earth, out of which thou wast taken: for dust thou art, and into dust thou shalt return.  [Gen  3: 16-19]

Conversely - for Lucifer and his companions - being that they "really knew better" - it was "one strike and you are out".

Remember what Jesus reminded us of:

And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more. [Lk 12:38]

That principle/law became so at the time of Creation; it just did not come into effect with the coming of Jesus Christ.

Second:  How those who do not know Jesus, the only route to Salvation - have not even heard of Him - will be saved?

The majority of mankind will not be penalized by God for the failed Evangelization effort of those who were entrusted to do so.... yet His Law must be upheld. But how?

Yes indeed, they may know the difference between good and evil but if they do not know Jesus - they never had an opportunity to "exercise their option" and accept and recognize Jesus as the Only Way of Salvation. Their lives may be more difficult than the lives of those who chose to Follow Him (3)  [not just talk about Him!] but they will be given an opportunity just as the people of Ninive were:

And shall not I spare Ninive, that great city, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons that know not how to distinguish between their right hand and their left, and many beasts? [Jonas 4: 11]

When an individual dies - the event takes place in two stages [please note that we are using world imagery which is easily understood by humans]

First - A reversible body and soul separation; a condition wherein the soul experience what some explain after their "coming back from the dead".  In this state, they usually speak of yet another boundary further away that they may see but not cross.

Second - The non reversible body and soul separation which is final. This takes place when the soul crosses that boundary that before could only be seen at a distance.

Those "...who do not know Jesus, the only route to Salvation - have not even heard of Him..." will have a "crash Evangelization course" during their stay/passage between the first reversible separation stage and the non reversible one. While in that transition state they will then make an informed choice before the "one way only" boundary is crossed.

Do you remember the parable of
"The kingdom of heaven is like to an householder, who went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard." of Matthew 20: 1-15 where the householder gave the same opportunity (pay) to those who worked from the first hour, as he did to those who only worked the last hour?

That is the same principle that God applies between those above described two stages.  What He is doing is taking advantage of "the legal loophole" He created for the dispensation of His Justice: The application of His Unfathomable Mercy (4) for those "who did not know better".

CONCLUSION

Brethren - this IS how infinitely Coherent, Magnanimous and Merciful our loving God is!

How could we possibly deny Him the very little (5) He expect from us?

EPILOGUE

Let us pray....

God Holy Spirit, Infinite Love of the Father and the Son,
through the pure hands of Mary, Your Immaculate Spouse,
I place myself upon Your chosen altar, the Divine Heart of Jesus,
as a sacrifice to You,

this day and all the days of my life,
being firmly resolved now more than ever,
to hear Your voice, and to do in all things
Your Most Holy and Adorable Will.

Amen!
