The Return of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Recognize the Signs
They Are and Will Continue to Be Crystal Clear
Some of the Faithful believe that certain teachings and exhortations of Saint Paul "missed the mark" a few times over the centuries. This is an erroneous belief that we have addressed already. (1)
His identification of the signs associated with the return of Our Lord Jesus Christ are right on target. Saint Paul explains to us, in no uncertain terms, how to identify and determine its proximity through his Second Epistle to the Thessalonians [2 Thes. 2:1-11] (2)
The
M+G+R Foundation Comments: Clearly "a revolt" (the apostasy) manifests itself
first. Afterwards, "the son of perdition" will be
identified. Note that "son of perdition" is an individual and
not a concept or philosophy.
++ Verse [4]
The M+G+R Foundation Comments: "The
man of sin" = "The son of perdition" = "The Antichrist" = "The False Christ" claims that he is
God. In reality, the Antichrist should be called the
False Christ. For example, counterfeit money is printed to be passed as real money, not to
be easily identified as false. Thus, it is "counterfeit money" and not "anti money".

++Verses [5-6]
The
M+G+R Foundation Comments: When the "son of perdition" is identified (and not the
concept of "perdition"), what we are told in...
(b) The following verse [8]
Therefore, the Return of Our Lord takes place immediately thereafter. That is, the "appointed time" for the identification of the False Christ, will take place shortly before the Return of Our Lord.
++ Verses [7-8]
The M+G+R Foundation Comments: Being
satan, satan, the "mystery of iniquity" has been at work from time immemorial. However, it does
not mean that satan has already manifested himself as such in the past; he has done so only
through his precursors.
The M+G+R Foundation Comments:
Whomever did not accept the "love of the truth" will fall victim of the seduction. This is the
immense value of John Paul II's Encyclical "Veritatis
Splendor" and miguel de Portugal's writings on the importance of internal and external
coherence (5). With such inside
knowledge one will able to distinguish the real from the counterfeit. God has given us one more
opportunity to assist us in discerning the truth.
++ Verse [11]
The M+G+R Foundation Comments: This
is the "last filtering device". The ability to discern what is "true" from what is "false" is what
God will use to separate the chaff that is mixed in with the "wheat". As you may see, it is an
automatic selective process which was clearly defined 2,000 years ago by Saint Paul. To better
understand Verse 11, above, one must carefully review the teachings found in the 1st Book of
Kings. (4)
